Hi, I have a chance to take a tour to these places. It's unexpected and the deposit is due, well, now. Before I decide, I hoped someone could tell me something on the following hotels/cabins on the tour:
Shilo Inn in Salt Lake
DK Motel in Idaho
Snow Lodge (Old Faithful)-Western Cabins in YEllowstone
Signal Mountain Lodge in Grand Tetons.
Any help is much appreciated because my main interest in this tour is that it bills itself as a chance to stay in the parks with beautiful views and settings
Thanks much
Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Salt Lake City and Crater lake

I have heard from others who have taken different tours that usually the tour groups have rooms that don't have the best views. A friend went through Yosemite on one and thought they were staying in the valley itself, but were outside of the park.
Saying this we have stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge twice (and definitely would again). There are a few cabins (no lodge there, only cabins) that do have a view of the mountains and lake from their cabin, but I seriously doubt that your tour would be staying in these. The setting is beautiful, cabins are clean, and the whole complex is right on Jackson Lake so you can walk a very short distance for the views. There are two dining places there with a porch with an excellent view while you are eating. This explains the different rooms.

Location is great. They also have snake river float trips that leave right from the lodge (and also other activities -- not sure what is on your tour)
I think you will be fine with those accommodations.
We stayed in the Snow Lodge, but not the cabins. There, also, you are in a great location for whatever else your tour has planned in Yellowstone. Old Faithful area has quite a few different lodges, etc. and can be very busy during the day, but the best time to be there is in the AM and PM before the crowds come. Views don't really matter there -- you will be fine with that accommodation also IMO.
If you haven't been in National Park lodges before, they aren't 4 star accommodations, but the ambience and experience of "being in the park" is worth it to most people. Also, both these places have cell phone coverage (Signal Mountain also has wireless in the lobby) which is kind of sporatic at best in the parks themselves (if that is important to you).
Hi Libby,
The Shilo Inn in downtown SLC has a good location. The hotel is typical, nothing special. I haven't been in it in years, so don't know date of last renovations.
I'm guessing Crater Lake is near Craters of the Moon, Idaho? Never been there, so can't say.
Is there some reason you want to go on a tour? These are all destinations that are super easy to do on your own.
Are you sure about Crater Lake? Crater Lake National Park is in Oregon, several hundered miles from the other locations.
If it is open, the Crater LakeLodge is one of the classic national park lodges. The rooms are bit small and spartan (at least when I was there a fews years ago)m but the location can't be beat.
And, as others said, Signal Mountain Lodge (cabins) is also a great location and, I thought nicer than the Crater Lake Lodge.
