Yankee Stadium - Please Help!

I have to make a decision fast. We are going to NY from Toronto and our team (Blue Jays) will be playing the Yankees. My husband is a big baseball fan and has never been to the Yankee Stadium. I want to surprise him, but the only seats available are in section 548. They lok very high up and are in the outfield. My question is for anyone who's very familiar w/ the stadium. Is it worth it? Is the place so huge that we'll barely be able to see a thing?

Any help greatly appreciated!!!!

I've only been to Yankee Stadium once so I can't comment on the section specifically, but I have to say that going to the stadium is most of the fun - wherever the seats are. We sat in the outfield and the view wasn't bad. I suppose it depends on what price you are paying, but if you're paying regular price - for sure buy them! If he's a big fan like me, just experiencing a new ballpark is worth the trip!

The only thing you won't be able to see is a ball hit into the LF corner or over the LF wall.

The seats actually aren't that bad. I actually prefer that level of the Stadium over the field level seats as the Loge level has far fewer seats that either the field level or Upper Deck. Meaning fewer people for bathrooms and cencessions.

Cassidy-
Check out www.seatdata.com. You can see an actual picture of the park from a certain section of any stadium. It always helps me decide!

died in the wool Yankees fans will sit anywhere. If you're not pyaing a fortune for the tickets, you may consider trading them when you get to the staduim to the many ticket sellers (read-scalpers) who will greet you as you approach the stadium. Print a map of the staduim before you go so you'll know what you're being offered. Also, make sure you go early enuf to see the little musuem. they close if well before the first pitch. I'm not sure what it's called-its by the bull pen (somewhere in the outfield) and I thought it was boring-a bunch of statues of Yankee legends, but the landscaping was nice and my Yankee fan kids and hubby thought it was great. Also, last time I was there (last summer) you couldnt bring in bakc packs or opaque bags-the guards made you put everything into clear plastic bags which they provided. Have a blast-it is an experience

Buy the tickets. The seats are fine. Get there early and tour the monument area.

Go for it.

I grew up a Blue Jays fan and quickly transformed into a Yankees fan (the Jays are still my 2nd team) when I spent my university, post-grad and professional life in NYC. Yankee Stadium is one of the best basball park in the world to catch a game - much, much better than Skydome. Your husband will like it.

Cassidy -- definitely go esp. if you're paying regular price. Get there when the stadium opens for the day in order to go to Monument Park (the little museum Rachel refers to). Enter the park on the left field side & go directly there before even going to your seats. You & your husband will really like it.

Rachel -- referring to Monument Park as a little museum with a bunch of statues is like describing the Metropolitan Museum of Art as some building with a bunch of paintings in it.

Be sure not to take any large purses or knapsacklike things - they aren;t allowed in for security reasons. And any bags/purses you do bring in will be opened/examined by security.

For the seats - it depends on how big a fan he is. I haven;t sat in seats that high since the the 1978 world series - and wouldn;t do it again. I like being on the field level - and those tickets are available - via scalpers - or on the internet - and shouldn;t be too much for a Jays game. Try ebay if you're interested - prices are often much better than the on-line scalpers - perhaps 25-50% above face value - not like for a Sox game.

Not sure what day you want to go - but e-bay has almost 100 offers for tickets for the games with the Blue Jays - perhaps you can find something you like better.

Can I suggest you go to the Yankees website. I believe their Stadium seating chart will let you see a photo of the exact section you'll be in. That's how I knew it was in the Loge above the LF wall.

A late response, but I wanted to thank everyone for the great advice. I got the tickets and am really looking forward to surprising him!

You can't go wrong - the tickets will be fine. I always bring a little pair of binoculars to help me see close up. Definately get there early for the Monument Tour. Don't be late - they only let a certain amount of people in. If you're there an hour before, you should be fine. Hustle in and check it out!

I am not sure, but from these seats will you be able to see George Steinbrenner implode if the Blue Jays beat the Yankees?

PS - we enjoyed Skydome when we were there a few years ago - or whatever its new name is.
