Would a weekend in Feb be enjoyable in the wine country?

That sounds like a great idea. We arrived in Sonoma around noon on a Friday in Feb and left after lunch on Sunday as everyone had to fly out that afternoon. You have the luxury of staying late in Sonoma and getting into the city when ever you want. We had a great time. We did a few wineries that afternoon before our reservation at the cooking school Ramekins for a hands-on cooking class. That was fun and then we ate the dinner we all had prepared. The dinner was paired with wine. We left with great new skills and terrific recipes.

The next day we visited Ravenswood, BR Cohn, Kenwood, Chateau St. Jean, Benzinger. We had lunch in Healdsburg at the California Beer which is a brewery and a great break from wine. Food is ample. We 4 ate at eh bar as the restaurant was super crowded. We wandered around Healdsburg as there is a lot of art and shops

Oops forgot to say about the weather. It was misty or rainy part of the time but it wasn’t so bad that it deterred us much. Since 3 of the 4 of us were from the area and the 4th was from Oregon we were prepared for the weather. We had umbrellas but we didn’t need them continuously. The rain made everything green and so beautiful. When it wasn’t raining the clouds broke up and let the sun shine through.

The brewpub in Healdsburg is Bear Republic, there is no CA Beer, BTW.

Definetly drive on up to Sonoma on Friday, and consider an airport stay only on Sunday night if you have an early Monday AM flight.

Weather could be rainy or sunny or both.
Do come anyway. We are so much less crowded in Feb up here.

Thanks for the replies. We don't know where to stay yet. How long will it take to get to Sonoma from the airport and how far is the airport from SF sites?

SFO to Healdsburg: 1 hour and 30-45 minutes.
SFO to Sonoma town: 1 hour and 15-30
mins.
All times are NON-commute hours via
the GG bridge.
SFO to SF town 20-30 mins.

You could stay in SF, drop off car Sunday and use BART to the airport.

If you expect to be back from Sonoma on Sunday night, I would suggest that you keep the car, book yourself in a nice hotel near or around the airport (be it SFO or OAK), and return your car at the airport.

The hotels are usually cheaper, definitely a lot more closer to the airport, with free parking and you get the use of the car for luggages and those cases of wine that you'll end up buying.
