I fly into Milwaukee tomorrow evening and will drive over to Madison. Are there any recommendations for a Fish Fry along that route?

Ideally, closer to Milwaukee, since the flight doesn't get in until after 8PM.

OMG - there are literally thousands and thousands of fish fry options. Everyone has their favorite place.
On the south side of Milwaukee - which is closer to the airport - I recommend either:

1) Serbian Memoral Hall on the SW corner of Oklahoma Ave. and 51st Street. or

2) Meyer's on the NE (kind of, Forest Home is a diagonal) corner of Forest Home Ave. and Coldspring Rd.

Both are really good and not too expensive. If you like perch, Meyer's has cod, pearch or blue gill.

Perch sounds good. It wouldn't make sense to go to Wisconsin to get the cod I could get anywhere.

I had found one place that was very handy to the airport. Beer Belly's. Is it one you aren't familiar with, or don't you care for it?

I just looked it up. It looks good. It had several good reviews.
They do have perch and also baby walleye.

If you're in the mood for Mexican - Jalapeno Loco, right on Howell (the street that borders the airport on the west) is GREAT! Authentic with lots of moles.

Mmmmmmmm!!!! My mouth waters! We have fish fry in the Buffalo and Western New York area...but I didn't know there were other places, too.

We had a lot of them in northern Michigan when I grew up there.

Soory Cap, my wife and I never found that Mexican restaurant in Central Illinois again. We looked and looked. I can't even remember the town it was in as we have moved to New England and Central IL is a blur to me now. It was near a train station that had Amtrak service, thats all I remember. It may have gone out of business because I could swear we were on the same block. I kept expecting to see it. Sorry

I.m not sure what you consider near the airport. Leon's custard is a milwaukee landmark. Probably five miles from airport
at 3131 S. 27th. Street. Ten minute drive maybe.

I should add that I think Kopps custard is better than Leons. Only problem, when I lived in Milwaukee Kopps was on North side.
If there is one near the airport I'd reccommend Kopps. Leons though, has the cool old atmosphere.

There is a Kopp's on the south side, but I prefer Leon's. I guess it's all a matter of taste. A douple scoop - BIG scoops - at Leons is $1.69.

I think Leons was used as a model for Arnolds drive-in on Milwaukee based Happy Days.

The southside Kopp's is at 7631 W. Layton, the street that runs along the north edge of the airport. It's about 6 miles from the sirprt.

Leon's, at 3131 S. 27th St, is just south of Oklahoma Ave. It's 2 miles west and 2 miles north of the airport.

I prefer Kopp's. here are the flavors of the day (plus the standard chocolate & vanilla) for Sunday: ULTIMATE COOKIE DOUGH and CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE.

I haven't been to Serb Hall in over a decade but it has very mixed reviews these days.

Yum. I think I am getting myself a Fish Fry tonight. I am up in Oshkosh (we get fresh Walleye), and our best here is either Parnell's Place or this place on Oregon that I only know by sight. YUMMY. One of the WI traditions I enjoy.

OK....if I can tag on to Keith's thread, I will be in The Wisconsin Dells on Thursday and Friday in 2 weeks. Where do you want me to eat fish and frozen custard?

And, what other yummy treats shall I get while in the area? We do plan to stop in Racine for some kringles.
