Wine Tasting Day in Livermore, CA

Hello Fodorites--I'm planning a wine tasting day in Livermore for our small wine group of 8. We will be visiting on a Saturday in early November. I'm looking for suggestions for which wineries to visit. Our emphasis will be on reds. We love charming properties, but are more interested quality. Any suggestions for us would be greatly appreciated. We are thinking of having lunch at Wente--have any of you dined there? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have only been to Concannon. Jim Concannon produced the first Petite Sirah way back when and it is still one of their specialties.

I love Concannon. We used to go fairly frequently with my bother and SIL lived in Orinda. There are also a lot of new ones since my last trip down (bother since moved to Tucson), but it is a beautiful area, and there are places to picnic if you choose.

Have not eaten at Wente but the winery is lovely and they have a pretty large selection of wines and a nice gift shop with items for sale, mustards, tapenades and such.

You will have a great day.

Thank you, crefloors. We drove down to Livermore yesterday and checked out Concannon. It's beautiful! They were so friendly there, and very nice about our picnicking there. We will definitely include it in our day in November.
