Williamsburg Romantic Inn for Anniversary?

We are hoping to stay in Williamsburg for two nights. Where would you suggest. It will be our anniversary.

The Williamsburg Inn is very nice. We stayed there years ago (prekids). I believe it has just been renovated. It also has a very nice (expensive) dining room.
There are many Williamsburg experts here so hopefully they will see this post and chime in.

It's the Williamsburg LODGE that's undergoing big renovations right now, altho the Inn may have undergone same a few years ago; I'm not sure.

What you might enjoy even more is staying in some of the house in the historical area. They feature modern day amenities, yet right outside the door is the 18th Century.

So we would want the Inn? Obv. not the Lodge if its under construction.

Also I am thinking the Trellis for dinner? What are the thoughts on that. The death by chocolate dessert is sooooooooo good. But, should I look for something more romantic for us? I've only done the Trellis during the day time.

I would stay at the Inn and eat there. The Trellis might be nice for dessert, but I think it is an overrated restaurant. (Just my opinion.)The Inn is very elegant. If you don't want to go dressy, than there are a ton of restaurants to choose from. Hopefully some of the residents will chime in. My parents live there, but nothing stands out as an anniversary dinner that we have gone to recently. So, I will stick with my vote for the Williamsburg Inn.

We did our anniversary dinner at the Fat Canary last year, and it was wonderful. I agree that the trellis is over-rated, and from what I hear the inn is "stuffy," though I haven't been.

We go to White Hall on Jamestown Rd just past Fresh Market for our "occasion" dinners. White Hall is very European with a slight German slant to the menu. Le Yaca (very French) is also special but I would request the darker, middle small room.
The Inn has been better in recent years but I still don't think the food warrants the high prices.

A vote for lodging in a historic building.Perfect location and my last visit had a room that was as nice as the Inn.

Have you gone yet? I recommend one of the Colonial Houses. For romantic dining, I really like Sewell's Ordinary, across the Coleman Bridge from Yorktown, on the way to Gloucester. My husband and I usually go there for our anniversary. In Williamsburg, I recommend Berrett's for seafood, or for the colonial tavern experience, Christiana Campbell's.

/The Williamsburg Inn is, I think, quite romantic, with a lovely feel of times past but not forgotten. Afternoon tea there (included with your room) is a very nice thing to do, as is dinner in the Inn's first-rate restaurant.

The Williamsburg Inn is extraordinary, as is its Regency Dining Room. Old world elegance.

I'll second the motion for the Fat Canary. I also really like Birdie's suggestion of White Hall. Lovely and romantic.
