Would Wien Walk and Gapstow Bridge be good places to take a group of teenagers in Central Park? Are there usually street performers on Wien Walk during summer afternoons in the summer? And I have read that the view from Gapstow Bridge is excellent. I also thought they might recognize that spot from Home Alone 2. Any thoughts?

Gapstow Bridge is conveniently located just inside the park from 59th Street and Fifth Avenue. The majority of movies set in NYC offer some view that includes this bridge and this corner of the park with the Plaza Hotel just beyond. Because it is so easy to reach, it is probably a good choice, but really just a stop along the way to someplace else.
Wien Walk is quite close the the Gapstow Bridge. It is merely an entrance to the park, barely inside the park. While there will probably be people doing bad charcoal portraits, perhaps performing, and selling things, this spot does not really offer what is the best about Central Park. One needs to get further into the park and away from Fifth Avenue.
Your idea to visit the Dairy would accomplish this better. Plus then you can go to the Carousel. Plus near both of them are the Mall and Sheep Meadow which offer truly iconic views.
It might be better for you to stick to one thread about where to take your group of teenagers in Central Park, so people can see all the places you've already heard about and are considering, rather than posting individual queries.

Give an idea of how much time you have for the visit to the park--30 minutes? 2 hours?
