Despite years of associating whitewater with Arkansas
there doesn't seem to be much of it going on there. At least not according to my internet research. Some float trips are offered on the Buffalo River but that is about all I could find. Any advice would be appreciated.

Buffalo River is more for canoeing than white water rafting and it is not the season right now. The season for canoeing is in the spring. The Spring River in Hardy , AR is also nice.
Just curious, why did you associate Arkansas with whitewater?
It would have never entered my mind.
HOwever, there is some excellent whitewater on the Arkansas river in Colorado (in the spring that is).
Contact the Clintons or one of their one hundred lawyers. They're experts on White Water in Arkansas.
THE ARK DEPT OF TOURISM HAS AN EXCELLENT FREE FLOATER'S GUIDE. THE COSSATOT HAS CLASS IV RAPIDS. TOO MUCH OF A CHALLENGE FOR MY BLOOD. THE MULBERRY, BIG PINEY, AND BUFFALO ALL CAN BE CHALLENGING BUT VERY DEPENDENT ON RAINS. MARCH THROUGH MAY IS FLOAT TIME IN ARK. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE SPRING RIVER WHICH IS FLOATABLE YR. ROUND. P.S. YOU CAN FIND ARK DEPT OF TOURISM ON THE WEB AT WWW.STATE.AR.US
ARKANSAS IS A BEAUTIFUL STATE FOR OUTDOOR FUN.
the buffalo is nice and very scenic but not really raft worthy, i would canoe it with a cooler of beverages and a fishing rod. for a little bigger water check out the spring river or the mulberry river, both in nw arkansas....
Just as a side note, there is awesome whitewater rafting in West Virgina, which I realize isn't near Arkansas. My family would go every other year from Cincinnati.
The New River is alot of fun and has several good class IV and runs all summer, and The Gauley River has class V, but only runs spring and fall, maybe only April & October, the water is cold and you wear wetsuits, but it is so exciting!
Have a great trip, wherever you decide to go!
