White Mountains -- where to stay + what to do in March?

A weeks holiday in the White Mountains area during early March ----- my husband and I, late 40's, would like suggestions of where to stay and what there is to do at this time of year. We prefer the outdoors to five star laid on entertainment kind of entertainment . Please offer suggestions. we have heard there is skiing around ???

Hi,

Are you talking about the White Mountains in Northeast Arizona?

If yes, my favorite place there is the Mary Butler Lodge (very small--like staying at your Grandmother's house) and the food is awesome! Plus it is very cheap (double room for $55!) There are also many more expensive little cabins to rent, and an internet search should lead you in the right direction. We have skiied and hiked there in January and enjoyed the very small town of Greer. I doubt if there would be snow in March, but do an internet check into Sunrise Resort to find out for sure. We've heard the fishing and horse-back riding is great also!
Have fun!

If you are talking about New Hampshire, the Jackson area might be what you are looking for. There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities: downhill skiing, xcountry skiing, skating etc. For info online check out www.jacksonnh.com
Another possibility would be to stay at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH. It's a beautiful hotel at the base of Mount Washington and just across the road from hte Bretton Woods Ski Area. www.brettonwoods.com
Have fun!
