White Christmas in the Rockies combined with heat in January

Jump to last reply

Hi. My partner and I would like to have a white christmas somewhere in the Rocky Mountains -either in America or Canada. He is a keen skier so that is also on our wish list. I'm not so into skiing (real novice) but horse drawn carriages/ dog sleds/snow shoeing and snow tubing (think that's what it's called) all have great appeal. We both enjoy being outside, rugged up in front of fireplaces, hot pools and a few wines etc. Walking and seeing the sights are a major part of all our holidays so... while it might be cold.... we definitely don't want to be stuck inside looking out at it all! Lol!

We are thinking of having a month off from say the 20th of Dec 2014 to the end of January and we live in New Zealand.

After three weeks of cold temperatures - both of us want to finish our trip somewhere hot. We have been tossing up about Mexico or may be even Hawaii. Again my preference would be somewhere in Mexico but I have read that the water temperatures are coolish so heated pools are a must! True??

Our plans are "not set in concrete" so will really appreciate any advise anyone gives. A white Xmas with skiing and a hot destination at the end! Look forward to hearing from you.
