Can anyone suggest some clean and comfortable B&B's or inns on Whidbey Island that allow kids under 12? I've looked at the Inn at Langley, Boatyard Inn, Saratoga Inn etc. and they do not allow children. And we'd rather not stay at the Best Western.

I believe the Coupeville Inn, in Coupeville, is fine with kids. I know they have rooms with 2 beds. They are very friendly, so give them a call or email and check. Their location is great, IME.

I don't know why the Boatyard Inn would come up as family friendly! I emailed the hotel and was told they don't accept kids under 12. But I'll check out the search feature on tripadvisor.

So much for the effectiveness of that search feature.
I think it's difficult to find B&Bs that are kid friendly, unless they have a cabin/cottage on the grounds. Good luck with your search. You may also want to check vrbo.com for rentals.

Another place to check is the Captain Whidbey Inn, also in Coupeville. They have a couple rooms that sleep 4, but I don't know about an age cut off for kids. We have seen kids there, but older ones, so I am not sure. Again, call or email to check.

These are the only 2 that I have personal experience with staying at, so hope this can help a bit

I just did a quick Google check and kids under 12 aren't allowed in the main inn, but they are fine in the other areas, so that might work for you.

In your previous thread I recommended the Silver Cloud in Mukilteo, which is kid-friendly (and surrounded by kid-friendly things to do, like beachcomb, dinner at Ivar's, etc.) but which is also a very short trip to Langley on the island. http://www.silvercloud.com/mukilteo/

Not sure if your aim is still to head to Port Townsend or up to Anacortes for the San Juans, but just IMO staying on Whidbey overnight is unnecessary to seeing Whidbey, and, as you've seen, accommodations, outside chains in Oak Harbor, are not all that plentiful for families.

We stayed there and enjoyed it. Nothing fancy, but clean and nice and very nice innkeepers. At the time we were there they had a sweet schnauzer, which was great when we were thousands of miles away from ours. Kid friendly and a great option before getting on the ferry.

Thanks everyone! I've managed to find a few two bedroom rentals that should work for us. But, now I am second guessing our itinerary! We arrive on a Tuesday at 11:00am and planned on driving right to Whidbey via Deception Pass. We were going to spend two nights near Coupeville, then head to Port Angeles for a orca watching tour. From there, I had hoped to spend two nights at the Lake Crescent Lodge but it is sold out over our dates.

Planning on scrutinizing a map of Washington to figure out what to do... We have seven nights and are spending our last 3 nights in Seattle.

Have a look again at your other thread, http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...washington.cfm - where there were suggestions regarding Port Townsend, whale watching from PT, and other options for you to investigate.

If you stayed in Port Townsend you could still go whale watching from either PT or Port Angeles, and even the Hoh valley is available as a day trip from Port Townsend if you want.

I looked into Port Townsend as a base but thought it was too far of a drive to see the Hoh Rain Forest in one day. I think my 7-yr old would go nuts in the car for that long in one day. It does look like an awesome town though. We will find a way to incorporate it into our plan.

Yes, PT to the Hoh is WAY too far to drive in a day and try to actually see things, especially with a 7 yr old. If you need a place in PT, we really like the Morgan Hill Guest Cottage. There is a loft there that works perfectly for kids too.
