Which washington location for Cherry Blossoms is best?
Hi All
looking for a locals opinion.
I am a party of 3 and traveling to DC to see the Cherry Blossoms the last weekend in March. Because i need 3 beds, i have narrowed my search down to these 2 hotels and was hopeful you could tell me which would be best?
The Carlylse Suites in georgetown
or
The Residence Inn at Pentagon.
We are 50 years old, there to see the blooms, the big statutes and memorials, a boat ride and city tour, we will be there 3 days.
any insight is much appreciated!
Thanks

I can't find a reference on Google to a The Carlylse Suites in Georgetown. There is a Carlyle Suites Hotel on New Hampshire Ave NW in the Dupont Circle area. Is that what you mean? I like the Dupont Circle area (I work there).
The Residence Inn at Pentagon is the Residence Inn Arlington Pentagon City? I have not been over that way in a while but the hotel website says it's half a mile to the Pentagon City Metrorail station.

I think staying downtown is preferable to staying outside of the city. Nothing wrong with Pentagon City but all other things being equal, I'd definitely stay in the city.
Check your city tour ahead of time. Last year many of the tours deviated from their normal routes because of the heavy pedestrian and car traffic on the mall and around the cherry blossoms.
If you mean the the Carlyle Suites on New Hampshire Ave near Dupont Circle, that place would be an excellent location for you. Do you mean another hotel?

Thank you both.
I rechecked and you are correct the Carlyle is at Dupont circle~
would i be correct in thinking that this location would be prettier, and more place to walk to or catch the metro?

I think they both have advantages depending on what you want from a hotel and its location.
Carlyle Suites is in a more residential, leafier location. The hotel itself is little more distinctive with its art deco style. You're a closer walk to more interesting restaurants but farther from the Mall tho not significantly so. It's a 5-7 minute walk to Dupont Circle metro which is on the Red Line. You'll probably want to switch to the Blue Line at Metro center to get to the destinations closer to the National Mall.
The Homewood on Mass Ave is a more generic hotel in a slightly more downtown location. It's a 5-7 minute walk to McPhereson Square metro which is on the Blue Line. You can walk to the Smithsonian in 20 minutes. Plenty of restaurants around, walking distance, and you are around the block from a very nice Whole Foods if you feel like taking meals or snacks back to your room.
