Thank you all who responded to my posting for the Pittsburgh-Pennstate ride.
Now, I hope you can help me with the following:
We will be hosting a dinner for our son, his girl friend and our relatives on Saturday. Friday is the graduation. I need suggestion for the restaurant. We will be about 7 people for the dinner. I was looking in the net, and need your feedback on "Isabella on Grandview" and "Heyholde Restaurant". Or if you have a restaurant you can recommend with view, good food, romantic, or a bit grand.
We live in Los Angeles, and the only time we have been to Pittsburgh was 4 years ago. At the time we stayed at Omni and had really good fish near the Train Station. But I would like a less crowded and less noisy restaurant this time.

I know it's a chain but if you are going to eat at a chain it is a reat one - Ruth's Chris in Pittsburgh is in a good location and the service is wonderful. If it's warm you can walk around outside after.
I haven't been to the 2 you mentioned...DH has been to Hyeholde but wasn't impressed either time.
As far as sites...anything up on the Mt Washington area is usually decent and you have an INCREDIBLE view!!!
I enjoy Church Brew but it gets noisy.
Over in Lawrenceville just on the other side of the Strip District

I enjoy the Grand Concourse --great Sunday Brunch!! wow I miss that!

Doesn't have a view and somewhat awkward to get tooo but excellent food is Primadonna's in McKees Rocks

Also a lot of restaurants have "family rooms" where you can get away from the main dining areas.
I agree anything on Mt.Washington for the terrific views Monterrey Fish Grotto is there and it is excellent.
Isabella on Mt. Washington is what you are looking for.
I have not been to Isabella, but I have heard it is the best restaurant in Pittsburgh. However, I have heard it is VERY expensive (most expensive?) also!
In case you do decide to go, don't be surprised to see an very unimpressive exterior!
