which place that I can travel alone as best?

I am 20 years old, female. I want to travel alone this summer, but I dont know which place would be safe for me to go alone, but still fun. I never have any travel experiences before. Should I join a tour with other people? Please give me some advice. I really wants to enjoy the a week or two by myself.

Go to a place that can provide the experiences you want. Since we have no idea what those are, it's impossible for us to know that to suggest. If these places have certain dangers that you wish to avoid, then avoid them. Unless you WANT to experience being in danger (and a twenty year old female getting drunk while at a party with a lot of twenty year old males is as great a danger as any I could imagine), you should be fine.

If there are specific places that you think you would like, and the dangers you are hoping to avoid, we could easily tell you where not to go in those places.

What type of vacation are you looking for? Do you want to see nature (eg, National Parks) or big cities or beaches?

Cities like San Francisco, Boston, DC, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago have plenty to see and do for a week, and it's easy and safe to visit alone as long as you are street smart. These cities you can either fly to (or take a train) and then use public transport to get around.

If you're thinking of more outdoorsy places, you'd need to consider renting a car and driving around, though at age 20 it may be rather expensive.

You might want to even check out tours like REI have if you want to do something outdoorsy. yk, lists some of my favorite cities, so those would be great. Perhaps even a cruise to Alaska or carribean. There are many tours out there for singles.

Yosemite is one place that you don't need a car. There is public transportation to it and then when you get there.

Safety in solo travel is more about how you act and your decisions than about the specific place (within reason).

Any major city in the U.S. has lots of opportunities that you could go and poke around on your own for a week.

Or you could do something in the countryside, like rent a cabin up in Vermont or Massachusetts on a lake for a week.

Or you could go to Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean if you wanted a bigger trip.

It's all about your interests, not so much the fact you are traveling alone.

I agree to Suze completely. All the places are equally harmful and good depending on the way you act and the time you spend out walking or shopping. I guess going with a group is much more enjoyable than going alone but it differs with individuals, the company should also be great!!

You can definitely try England and Germany..
