Which Island to take a helicopter tour Maui/Kauai

Trying to decide on which Island to take the tour on? Maui, Kauai or skip them both and take a tour to see the volcano's???

This will be our first time to Hawaii!

Helicopter on Kauai. It is about the only way to see the whole island, especially the Na Pali coast. Maui can be seen by car. I flew with Jack Harter a few years ago but I don't know if he is still in business.

Can't speak for Maui, but did a helicopter tour over Kauai with Inter-Island Helicopters in Hanapepe (335-5009)a couple of years ago which was just amazing. Saw a full-circle rainbow directly under the helicopter! From what I know, the scenery is probably more dramatic on Kauai, and less accessible by road/foot than on Maui, so I would imagine it would be the more worthwhile island to do it on.

Hands down, Kauai - for all of the reasons already stated. You'll see things you can't see any other way.

Let me join the chorus for Kauai as the place to do the helicopter tour. I've done both Maui and Kauai, and there is no comparision for spectacular and diverse scenery. We have alsways gone with InterIsland - very professional, and flies with doors open for unobstructed photo ops! They also offer a tour that lands at a remote waterfall with a picnic lunch there before resuming the regular tour - it's awesome. Jack Harter is indeed still in business and always gets high praise as well (his was the first helicopter tour outfit on Kauai 40 years ago). Have a great time!
