It looks like the one from Seattle is really overpriced...any reason for choosing this one except not having a car?

It's much faster, Johnny. Otherwise, for scenic crossings, the San Juan route (Anacortes) wins on the US side, but the Tsawwassen crossing on the BC side of the border is even better IMO.

We loved the ferry ride from Anacortes. The scenery was beautiful. However, we waited in line for four hours to catch that ferry! Try to avoid weekends and tourist season.

Of the 3 routes you mentioned the route from Anacortes is by *far* the most scenic.

My personal favorite it to go up just across the Canadian border and take the Tswassen ferry and with the Canadian exchange right now it could be a bargan.

As actual ferries go, Anacortes is my least favourite. BC ferries that John and Lolly mention run every hour or two depending on the time of year. The Clipper from Seattle is probably the least reliable due to weather conditions and more likely to have seasick passengers.
