If you can afford it, try Naples, Florida. It is beautiful and has warmer weather than lots of places. You can drive to Sanibel for the shelling and to the Everglades for day trips.
We are interested in spending a month possibly in an inn or a moderate resort in Florida Keys. Any area has some activites such as snorkeling, sightseeing, etc.I do not want to go to Naples: too expensive and very manitured. Please mention specific places or any other place you might enjoy for such ane extended time ; Thanks so much/
If you love a Florida environment with cultural activities nearby I would recommend the Sarasota area. Almost any town from Bradenton, Sarasota, Venice, Nokomis, the island places, Anna Maria, Longboat Key and Siesta Key are close to Sarasota where good plays, music, opera, ballet occur and there's a fantastic restaurant area around Main Street.
Check VRBO and see what you can come up with - you'll probably love it and end up buying there - we did!
The winter is the off season in the Florida Panhandle and winter there is WONDERFUL! Less crowded and great temps (not to hot and great for golf as well!)
You don't say that you specifically want to stay in the States. We spend a month every winter in Cozumel, Mexico. Its easy to get there, the water is amazing for snorkeling, the restaurant scene is varied, delicious, friendly and inexpensive. You can find a house or a condo in nearly any price range. Lots of cultural activities to participate in. Did I mention -- everything is inexpensive?
