Where to stay in Little Rock AR

Currently have reservations for a Friday night in early November at Hampton Inn on River Market Ave.

Will be arriving mid-day Friday coming from Petit Jean State Park. Want to visit Clinton Library and Heifer International. Flying out on Saturday about noon.

Is the Hampton Inn in a good location? Google maps gives directions either coming through the city or crossing over the Arkansas River. Is either a better route?

Have only been here on a day trip, but my impression was that the River Market is a good area to stay, especially if you want to walk around near where you’re staying. The River Market area struck me as safe, well populated, and near lots of good eateries and attractions — and given that there are bad or less well populated areas of this city, that’s something to keep in mind.

For food, really enjoyed Flying Fish, which is right down the street from your hotel.

Not sure how much time you'll have, but consider:

-Old State House Museum. It's now a state history museum. In River Market (RM) area.

-Arkansas State Capitol. Very good example of its kind, well worth seeing. Ca. 1.5 miles west of RM, walkable or likely can take a bus.

-Arkansas Arts Center. Small art museum with more good pieces than one might expect from a place of its size, worth a visit. In MacArthur Park, ca. 1 mile south of RM, walkable -- if memory serves, taking a bus here from downtown is kind of convoluted.

Marriott Residence Inn Downtown

HI! We travel to Little Rock rather frequently for work and always stay at the Marriott Residence Inn Downtown. Perfect location downtown near everything. Across the street from Dizzy's restaurant -I think that is the name, awesome food and you can eat outside. Free wine and snacks in the evenings a couple times a week and I can walk to all the shops. Very clean and quiet rooms.
