where to stay in key west
as i live almost on the north pole I would like to go somewhere warm with my 2 year old daughter. I am sot sure if key west is the best place to go with a child, but as i understand, it is the warmest place in december in the US. So, do you have any recommendations as to where to stay? I would like it to be not expensive (max 100USD per night), child-friendly... I would prefer a small family-run bed and breakfast or something similar, but I am not sure if they are to be found in that area. It doesn't have to be real close to the "action" as I just want a cosy vacation with my baby, rather than crowdy cafes and restaurants...
Or do you recommend some other place in the US that is also warm in Dec (which i doubt
I have been considering the Carrebean, but in the US I feel safer, as the health care seems closer and more secure (because of the baby)...
Thank you so much for your answers!

For all the reasons that Key West is attractive to you in December, it's attractive to others, thus making that time of year high season. I'm not sure it's possible to find what you're looking for in your price range, but if I were you, I'd start with the Key West Innkeeper's Association at keywestinns.com
In order to be within walking distance of restaurants and tourist activities, you'll want to be in Old Town rather than New Town.

Winter is high season in Florida, and that includes Key West. It may be tough to find acceptable lodging there in your price range that time of year.
Hawaii would also likely be warm in December, but again, it won't be a cheap option.

I would recommend that you look into the US Virgin Islands... St Thomas and St John are amazing and you may find a package that includes air/hotel and transfers... Its a US territory and the resorts there are very secure...
I doubt that you will find anything nice in Key West for $100

If you travel to Key West prior to the middle of the month you may find cheaper places to stay. From Thanksgiving until the XMas Holidays there is somewhat of a lull (if no festivals are going on).

marii - For additional information, I'd encourage you to take a look at the Key West forum on tripadvisor.com.
They currently have 9 Destination Experts - some live in Key West, some are frequent visitors, and LOTS of others are very familiar with the island.
