where to milk a cow in lancaster pa?
I know this sounds crazy but my 15year old daughter has asked for the experience of milking a cow for Christmas. I figure Lancaster is probably the cloest place to Pittsburgh I'll be able to give her this gift. Any rec. on a place I would be able to do this?

I believe this is where friends of mine stayed once for a summer vacation -- they enjoyed it, but it was years ago.

OMG, the Old Fogie farm is still open? I took my kids there for a weekend 20 yrs ago to milk cows, ride their pony, pick strawberries, gather eggs from the hen house, and pet the pot belly pig. It is nice to know they are still around.

Vale Wood Farms is a lot closer to Pittsburgh. Loretto is not too far from Altoona. http://www.valewoodfarms.com/
I'm sure they can show your daughter how to milk a cow.

Call your local agricultural extension office (check Penn State under county offices usually) and see what they might be able to find. May have to go a county over from Pbgh.
Very sweet and thoughtful gift!

Sorry this is not timely but we had a lovely family vacation including the Eby Farm B&B, just a few miles outside Lancaster, and we milked cows, fed chickens, had the whole farm experience. Very hospitable. Rooms are, I would say, nice but rustic. Our kids are much younger--7, 5, and 2, and still enjoyed it.
