I'm planning to go fishing for the first time over a weekend for my birthday, but have no clue whatsoever where to start!
Firstly, I do not own any equipment and hence would like to hire some and need some advice as to where we can hire some.
I was thinking of going somewhere in the Catskills region - are there any places there, where I can hire fishing equipment and go fishing? Also, are there any places where I can go fishing and there'd be someone to guide me on how to fish?!
Will greatly appreciate any advice!
Thanks!
Where to hire fishing equipment and go fishing in the Catskills?

If you google: fishing guide in the Catskills You will come up with lots of links. I only fish with family, so can't recommend one, but found this one that looks ok

Well I'm not a fisherman. But I know in New York you need a license for freshwater fishing. Not sure about the other states.
I'm sure there are plenty of places that will hire you fishing gear - and provide guide service (for a tidy sum) - but first you will need to figure out what you want to fish for - and approximately where. Then just google.
Google Roscoe NY.
Could you tell when you plan to go and what species and tackle you want to use? Fly fishing for trout is the local specialty.
