where should I stay on a 3 day drive from La to San Fran
My wife and I are driving from LA to SF along US1. We are leaving LA on the 14th of June and arrive in SF on the 16th. We would really like some suggestions of where we should stay over night. Also what would be a good vineyard to stop at along the way so my wife can sample some white wine?

You should be aware that right now that it is not possible to take 1 all the way. The road is blocked by a massive landslide just south of Big Sur. The estimate is that it will take another 4-6 weeks to clear, so you should have a Plan B.
Also there are literally thousands on threads on the subject of taking I -- just do a search for Pacific Coast Highway or Big Sur or even LA to SF in the search box and you will see more suggestions than you could ever need.

You could take Highway 1 as far as Cambria and then take beautiful Highway 46 to Paso Robles--great wine country.
You could then take 101 to Carmel or Monterey and then get back on Highway 1 and take it through Half Moon Bay into San Francisco.

For night 1 I'd do Santa Barbara or Pismo Beach. There is a nice winery right off the 101, Laetitia, near Arroyo Grande just south of Pismo. Better known for sparkling wine and pinot noir, but a decent Chard.
Santa Barbara Winey, just a few blocks from the beach has some decent wines.
Further north in the Santa Ynez area check out Fess Parker, Foxen and Riverbench. Also for Sav Blace, Brander
on your second day of driving if Highway 1 is still closed in the Big Sur area, you might consider a bit of detour and drive 1 to Hearst Castle nean San Simeon and then back track to Cambria and Route 46 to 101. If you like the Rhone whites, you can try some of the Paso Robles areas wineries. I really can't reccomend a Chard from there. Graveyard Cellars, Hope Family Winery and Bianchi come to mind.
Night 2 I'd do in Monterey, visit the Aquarium, drive the 17 Mile Drive, stroll Carmel. Like the Bernardus Winery in Carmel Valley...Also there is a very nice (and expensive) Bernardus Lodge.
