Just for fun ...
1. Where is your next trip?
2. How did you choose?
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
My answers ...
1. Seattle/Vancouver
2. I've been lots of places, so I let my kids choose where we will go for their summer vacation every year. Got to enjoy them while they're still young and don't mind letting me go with them! They are into music and art, so they picked Seattle.)
3. Last 3 were:
Cancun - (Best, because it was so laid-back, beautiful turquoise beaches, and WARM.)
San Francisco (2nd, 'cause there is so much to do, and I got to show my kids a city that I love.)
New Orleans (3rd, still a lot of fun, but I prefer our "family" vacations, and the kids didn't go on this one. Also, I can't help but prefer the cities with BLUE water. I'm sure NO has some; it just wasn't in the French Quarter.)
Where is your next trip? How did you choose? What were your last 3, with the best one first?

1. My next trip is to San Francisco inmid-May. (Can't wait...taking my best friend who's never been to this beautiful city!)
2. Long story. My fiance was going to Vegas for a pool tournment and I was at loose ends. Pool is not my cuppa tea. So I did a search for cheap airfare and couldn't beat the price. Called my best friend (who is going through a rough time with her fiance and said "let'sgo!." Trip planned and paid for in under 1 hour. Turns out fiance isn't going to Vegas after all. OH WELL!! California here I come
3. (1)New Orleans...I go once a year whether I need to or not. Gotta get my jazz/cafe du monde/hurricane fix.
(2)Hawaii...2 week cruise with rhe above mentioned fiance...need I say more?
(3) San Francisco...beautiful city, nice people, great food and music. Had to go back just to see what I missed the first time.
1. Where is your next trip?
*** Yosemite in May
2. How did you choose?
*** We have a group that goes to Yosemite every year in the Spring. This is our 2nd year going with this group and will be our 3rd trip to Yosemite.
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
*** New Orleans, NYC, San Diego
So far SF and NO seem to be quite popular. I love SF as well, but since I live an hour from there, it's just a day trip for us.
1. Leaving for Palm Springs next week.
2. It's for DH birthday. Planned it when it was cold. DH wanted to go somewhere warm to celebrate.
3. Was in San Francisco in Jan and it was a great rip. Fun time, good food and a nice room at the Mark Hopkins.
Before that, Tahoe for a gorlious week. Great weather for the most part. Lots of hiking and boating.
Before that we went to Mammoth. More hiking and fishing and biking and relaxing.
1.My next trip is to the High Sierras at the Tioga Pass resort just outside of Yosemite's eastern border in July.
2. I love hiking this area and have not been in 7 or 8 years. My partner and I have not been there together, but we both count this place as one of our favorites.
3. Kauai last July/August because there is nothing to do and no nightlife. (Hello Kal) We just got back from a few days at the Sea Ranch on the Northern California coast in a vacation rental home. Sea Ranch is a very unusual community of homes in any amazingly beautiful location. Highly reccomended! My third and least favorite was...visiting my family last Thanksgiving in Seattle! I love my family, but after four days...
Next trip is Alaska in June. Because we've never been there.
Past 3 trips were Key West, Turks & Cacios Islands, and San Antonio.
I am going to assume you mean pleasure trips - so I am not including trips to family funerals, business trips, etc.
Next - cruise to Bermuda. Why - son is graduating from HS and we wanted to go on possibly last family trip for a while - I wanted to go to Montreal and Quebec City - kids voted me down in favor of cruise. (They have a history of making better suggestions than I do, so I bowed to their choice)
Last few-
Egypt (2001) - hard to ever top this one
Las Vegas/Bryce/Zion/Grand Canyon/San Diego
Seattle and then drive south to San Francisco
Baltimore/Washington
(Also assorted trips to view colleges - Savannah, Northern Florida)
1. Next trip-- I may do a trip in the meanwhile, but the next one I have planned is Mexico City in the winter.
2. Because I went to the north of Mexico a few months ago, had an amazing time, and can't get that country out of my mind. Mexico City as the capital, major world metropolis, and replete with history, I feel like I should go there to see if I like or not. Spanish practice will be a plus.
3. Last 3> Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico 2> Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada 1> San Antonio, Texas, USA
All were eye-opening and seemed like cool places. Only in San Antonio for 24 hours, so really experienced the least.
1. Next trip - April 15, off to Washington DC for new-students weekend at the university my daughter will attend next fall.
2. The school chose! Daughter's friend who went to this event last year strongly recommended that she attend.
3. For the past 2 years, most of our vacations have been college-hunt-oriented excursions in the eastern US. Before that, we got to go interesting places like Britain and Hawaii.
LOL, gail, my daughter and her brother saw an ad on TV last night for a cruise and both of them wondered aloud why anyone would choose such a trip!! She wants another trip to London as a graduation gift but that will have to wait for the final financial-aid package to arrive. Second-choice is NYC, it's nearby and plenty to do there.
Its definitely hard narrowing down where to take vacations! So many places, so little time (and money!).
1. San Fran for the weekend of the 4th of July. Next larger vacation will be England in November.
2. Got a great deal on airline tickets for San Fran. Hubby has always wanted to go and it sounded like fun.
3.
(1) Vienna, Munich, Florence, Siena and Rome last month
(2) London and Cardiff, Wales
(3) Colorado
1. Alaska Cruise/Land Tour in July.
2. Group of 30 going-been planning this trip for over a year.
3. Isla Mujeres, Florida(Fort Meyers & the Keys), Acapulco
Next trip: Costa Rica in 2 weeks.
Why? Because Europe is too expensive right now & I want an adventure vacation for a change.
Last 3 in order from best to next best:
Italy - 2nd trip and always fabulous
Spain/Morocco - loved it
Cancun - great r & r
1. Either Peru, Greece, or Vegas/Zion in 4-6 weeks...how's that for variety?
2. It will be chosen on when my bf can get off from work, airfare prices, ease of planning, etc.
3. My last 3:
Cancun (Feb)
Naples/Amalfi Coast of Italy (November)
Scandinavia (September)
Scandinavia rates the best of the 3, while Italy was the worst (it rained the whole time)
Though..if you include business trips I also went to DC and LA/Long Beach in March.
Next trip - The US - Vegas for some sin, Colorado to visit family and friends and re-acquaint ourselves with the mountains.
How did we choose? Well, we're deprived of sin here in Kuwait, so Vegas is a nice change of pace. Colorado - a no brainer - former home.
Last three trips - favorite to least favorite -
New Zealand, Dubai, Arizona
San Francisco next week....i go there because my family lives there, but if my family lived in a place that wasn't so great....well let's just say they wouldn't have to put me up and put up with me as much as they do!
last 3 in order of preference: Maui (no contest!!), Florida Keys, San Diego......
Not counting business:
Next trip: Romania and Hungary
Why: I think because it's an area we don't know that much about and it seems interesting. And because $ kept the Bhutan trip from happening this year.
Last 3: Australia, Ireland/London, Australia
I'd like to get back to another inside the US trip here at some point, but we keep picking places that use up all the time off we can get!
Next big trip will be Washington DC. Chosen because the kids are at an age finally where they will enjoy the history and museums. Plus the Red Sox are playing in Baltimore and we love to incorporate a Red Sox game into our travels and it fits into our budget because we can drive there.
Last 3 were NYC, WDW and Hershey/Lancaster PA. NYC and WDW are tied for my favorites. NYC was a girls getaway that was really fun. WDW was a surprise birthday trip for my youngest.
1. Chicago
2. We wanted to go somewhere for a long weekend, and there were great airfares on Southwest. That with a Priceline hotel will make for a cheap but fun weekend.
3. Santa Fe,
Fort Lauderdale,
and San Francisco.
1. Riviera Maya, June 12-19 [counting down the days!].
2. Always wanted to go so we just finally said "let's go!"
3. - St. John, USVI [our favorite because the water was just gorgeous]
- Maui [it was beautiful]
- Puerto Rico [it was fun and a lot warmer than the east coast in Feb!]
1. New Orleans
2. Never been but always wanted to,finally going to get there
3. Las Vegas , Arizona, Vancouver/Kelowna
1. May 9th - , Sanibel (all of a sudden my delete key stopped working, won't let me delete that comma)
2. Been before, liked it alot. Want to relax and do nothing. Have important project been working on that will be done the week before this trip.
3. USVI, Vieques, USVI again! We go to the USVI alot, usually once a year, sometimes twice. Its become a second home to us.
Next trip is New Orleans next week for Quarter Fest. Why, because we try and go every year. It's a great time to visit.
Last three trips, Belize last month, Grenada in January and Isla Mujeres last December. Jean
1. Our next trip is Chicago (April 21-25).
2. Because we have never been. My husband retired last January, and we are trying to see places we've never been.
3. The last 3 places we've been are Arizona/New Mexico, Boston, New Orleans. (Husband went to Costa Rica with friends in February for a fishing trip- and we did Savannah for a weekend in January) We had such a good time at all our destinations, that I really can't rate them...they were each fun in their own way.
1. Israel and the Mediterranean, leave in four days.
2. To see new family members (as in newly arrived) before they're too big to give sass. Then to get on a cruise ship and turn off the TV.
3a. New Orleans/Mississippi Delta/Memphis, Thanksgiving 2003. Wow. Did a trip report.
3b. Anchorage, August 2003, for god-daughter's wedding. Still feels like home.
3c. Las Vegas, Christmas 2003. Because when you think of Christmas, where else could you possibly consider?
Geez mine are tame compared to everyone else!!
1. Miami and Puerto Rico in 2 weeks for about 3 days in Miami and a week in PR.
2. Going to PR because I haven't seen my extended family in 7 years. Added Miami because it's on the way and gives me a chance to enjoy being alone and doing nothing.
3. There are no least favorites...last 3 were Washington DC (twice), Boston and Miami (South Beach). Picking a different area of Miami this time as I liked other parts better.
This doesn't include 2 weekend trips to Hunter Mtn for skiing and Mystic, CT for gambling nearby, both done recently.
Next trip is Vegas. Looking forward to staying at the Bellagio for my birthday! When you get over 40 you have to go on a trip to celebrate - it hurts less
We have never been to Vegas, it has always been on our to do list.

After that we are going to Biras Creek, BVI for a week or so, we may go to WDW after that since its just a short flight. Biras is one of our favorite destinations, like a second home. After that we are going to Hawaii/Maui for 12 days (AmEx points - Yeah
Our last three:
Just retruned from a 7 day Celebrity Cruise on the Century (western caribbean) and 5 days at Universal Studios/Portofino Hotel. We had a great time and did not want our vacation to end so we went to Universal and rode the rides and screamed until our heads fell off! I am still rocking like I'm on the ship
Late November 2003 we spent 2 weeks on Anguilla at Cap Juluca-- we also go there often and love it.
In May of 2003 one we went to Atlantis Bahamas/Disney World/Sanibel Captiva. We first flew to Atlantis stayed for 4 days, then took a short flight to Orlando and stayed at the Grand Floridian for 5 days. We then rented a car and drove to South Seas Plantation and stayed for 5 days. We love Florida, this was a fun trip too.
I can't say I have a favorite destination - as long as we have a trip booked, that one is our "new" favorite!
Ha ha ha Annabel, I like it: "it hurts less". Now I have a legitimate reason to get away for my birthday.
Hi,
1) Next trip - Houston
2)Racquetball tournament, not really a choice
3) Spain
England
Colorado
All three were fabulous - and so different I can't choose!
Karen
1. In about 3 weeks we leave for Ecuador and the Galapagos, right after we will head straight to Jamaica, and then upstate NY before coming home to LA.
2. The Galapagos has always been on my wish list and we finally decided to go this year. The Jamaica trip is for our anniversary and was planned last year (same place where we spent our honeymoon). Two months ago we found out my sister in law is getting married in NY. So it all somehow got strung together into one big extended trip!
3. Austria/Germany/London
Oahu/Big Island
Vancouver
Next trip:
NYC in May. It's a business trip, so I didn't do much choosing, but I'm really looking forward to it.
Last 3 trips:
- Best was Big Island, Hawaii for 11 days in Nov/Dec.
- Next best was Phoenix -> Sedona -> Grand Canyon -> Flagstaff last week.
- third was a 40+ hour driving trip through Texas to see family around Christmas. I love my family, but it's a hard trip to make.
1. Kauai for 8 days in June
2. Because we loved Maui so much last summer and we're looking forward to hiking and snorkeling the daylights out of Kauai. Am waiting for Kauai and its scattered lagoons and fringing reef to turn completely into Tahiti because the airfare is cheaper.
3. Maui
Miami/Keys
Seattle
I obviously have a tropical bent, but did enjoy Seattle a lot over the New Year, AND it snowed in the city, my very first falling snow which was very cool. Spend a lot of time in Santa Cruz CA which I guess lots of people consider a vacation spot, which was funny when we considered how sad we were returning to SC from Maui last summer (boyfriend lives in SC). We spend a lot of time in SF too and are always discovering something new and wonderful, along with old favorites.
love
roxy
1. Dallas area to visit my best bud -

she just moved there
2. I miss the heck out of her
3. The north shore O'ahu... just back
on Sunday and I'm in major
withdrawl :'(
Carmel, CA for my 20th anniversary
a close second... almost, but not
quite aloha enough - most awsome,
lovely, romantic trip though
I don't consider weekend getaways
"a trip" so then my 3rd last would
be Hopetown, Elbow Cay, Abaco,
Bahamas... awesome spot
1. Next family trip is to Cape Canaveral, Ft. Lauderdale, and Keys in June. Can't wait!
2. We love the beach. It's the most relaxing vacation for us. We like to take our kids to different places, but we seem to gravitate to the beaches in Florida most often. Our job pretty much dictates when we can vacation and it's the end of June or early August.
3. Last three family vacations listed in order of preference: St. Pete Beach, FL; Colorado (Estes Park & Mesa Verde); Destin, FL.
Next year I'm going to look into a cruise or all-inclusive resort in Mexico or Carribean. Thanks to Fodors for the wonderful help. I've so enjoyed researching our vacation this year!
1. Next trip is San Francisco. Next BIG trip is Fiji/Australia!
2. San Francisco is a well-timed seminar that's being extended for some site-seeing. Fiji/Australia is for my honeymoon, VERY hard to choose. Initially wanted to go to New Zealand, but the timing would put us there in the peak of winter, so change of plans.
3. Last 3 were: Hawaii (Big Island, Maui, Oahu), San Diego, Boston & Cape Cod (liked Boston but Cape Cod was a big YAWN).
I'll tell you where/when but I'm afraid Suzie would come over and heist my new DVD player.

Nahh...everyone knows we live on the poor side of town. Nuthin' worth stealing here...Move along...
1) April-SF for the 3rd annual NFL draft soiree at Shanghai Kelly's.
2) "Start spreadin' the newwwwwws..."
NYC in May for Mrs K's 1st anniv of her 49th b'day.
3) New Orleans-49ers play @ NOLA this year. TBD
4) Yountville-T'giving/Anniv/Another Fodor's WineOs GTG???
5) And again a visit in Dec/Jan to that hell hole of a place called Kauai (You're absa-f'in-lutely right iamq-nothing to do-no night life...yadda yadda yadda)....263 mo' until further research.
And we may pop over to Italy in August to suprise the bro in law who suprised us in Kauai as we think he's going to "pop the question" to his girlfriend in Venice.
Heh heh heh...turnabout is fairplay
Tentative trips:
DC for 4th of July.
San Diego for a Pads game in the new WoofWoof Park.
As many "mini vacations-long weekends" to Napa/Sonoma/SF as we can fit in.
Last 3:
1) Dec/Jan: The boring hell hole called Kauai.
2) Nov: Yountville. Excellent! Especially the people we met!
3)Oct: New Orleans and Branson-Big Cedar Mo.
Another year where we did not have a bad trip.
Damn! Life IS good!!!
Wow. See some exciting travels coming up for a lot of fodorites. Lets see my last 3 trips were- Maui for 2 weeks in January 03, Indianapolis (business trip) Oct.03 and Ft.Lauderdale Nov 03. Loved Maui and enjoyed Florida of course. Not sure where the next one will be. Still trying to decide??? Hopefully someplace tropical.
1. Alaska - Fairbanks, Denali, Anchorage, Seward
2. Have always wanted to do a land-based Alaska trip. Did a cruise years ago.
3. Baltic cruise + London
Death Valley
Maui - least fav only cuz it rained the whole week
Going to Florida in 2 weeks with a friend to visit another friend who has a condo on the beach at Singer Island. Chose it because we have been planning a get together for months, but have a hard time coordinating our schedules. Friend will be coming back north for the summer in early May so we had to go soon.
Going to Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills of South Dakota with my daughter for a 4 day trip over Memorial Day weekend. Both of us have always wanted to see Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, and the Black Hills but flying to Rapid City is expensive from here. I got an offer from United to take their credit card. By paying the $60 annual fee I received a free companion ticket. Not many deals are available to fly to SD so we decided we should take advantage. This is the only time we can go this year. Already have plans to visit SF, Yosemite, and the Monterey area when daughter has vacation time in September.
Last 3 trips: NYC last October. Went with 6 friends and had a marvelous time. Can't wait to go back and see all of the things we missed the first time.
Baltimore, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Washington DC, and other Civil War sights last September. Daughter and I are history buffs and she is especially interested in the Civil War.
Last May we went to Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods,Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chelly, Painted Desert, and Petrified Forest. We love the Southwest and plan to go back next year to see more of the things we have missed. That will be our fourth trip to the area - there is so much to see.
BI of Hawaii in May - Our 10th wedding anniversary. I can't wait!... Is strange that I'm already fearing the withdrawals of coming back and not having anything to look forward to?
Scottsdale - Great Golf
Orlando - It was Fun
Atlanta - Used to live there... glad I don't anymore.
Next trip: 12 days in Scotland in June. We are starting with a few days in Edinburgh, then up through the highlands, over to Skye, down to Oban, and one night in a castle before returning home. Can't wait.
Why: both of our families have some Scottish ancestry. Our 11-year-old thinks she will see the Loch Ness Monster. Plus, it's very scenic, and we hope not as hot as some parts of Europe in the summer.
Three most recent trips (not including holiday trips to see family). It is hard to rank by favorites because they were all great, so I'm going in order from most to least recent:
Hawaii; took my mother on a self-organized "tour" of the islands last month.
Madrid, with day trips to Segovia and Toledo
Switzerland and the Italian Lakes
Pictures from all, if anyone is interested: http://community.webshots.com/user/go_family
1. Out next trip is to Vegas
2. Visiting family and looking for relaxing entertainment.
3. a.Rome, Florence, and Assisi- italy what else can you say.
b. DC-our nations capital travel there every year and will continue to do so, awesome, got to go to maryland for the blue crabs.
c. Spain and portugual- awesome
Next trip: to Atlanta for a close friend's wedding
Last three: skiing in South Lake Tahoe March '04, skiing in Squaw Valley January '04, Baltic/Scandinavian cruise July '03
Next - Washington DC, Baltimore, and Outer Banks.
Why: Wanted to go for three years now, but wars or snipers or general turmoil kept us away. Plus, the kids are a good age, 11 & 14.
Last 3: a) Two week tour of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota. b) Two week tour of the Southwest. c) Two week tour of California.
If a long weekend counts, we're going to IL with friends at the end of the month. Otherwise, we're going to Boston in Aug/Sept. just because I've always wanted to go. Love history!
Last three trips:
Kauai - Soooooo green
Sanibel Island, FL - Borrowed a friends's beautiful new home
USVI - Enjoyed these islands a lot!
1) Vegas
2) 'Cuz we've planned and cancelled this trip at least 2x already (went with a cruise and Hawaii instead)
3)London/Paris/Iceland
New York City
DC
1. Oahu in June
2. Because we got two free round-trip airline tickets from a credit card offer from my husband's former union
3. Greece; Charleston; Washington D.C.
Lots of great trips! Mine are bland in comparision.
Going to stay at a cottage on Lake Michigan in July and then visit family in Detroit area.
Had to visit the family with the kids and love the Lake. We also get a break from the AZ heat.
Last three by favorites: Maui, just fabulous and loved equally: San Diego/Palm Springs and Sedona. It is always great to get away.
1. Where is your next trip?
Roth, Heidelberg, Florence, Rome
2. How did you choose?
My brother is doing the Ironman in Roth, Germany this summer.
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
Key West, NYC, St. Michael's
Next trip is to Yellowstone in the early fall. I was there a long time ago, but hubby has not been. Time to see more of the good ole USA
Last 3
1. Maui for 2 weeks on February. Always my favorite, especially coming from the north in the middle of winter.
2. Las Vegas. A perennial favorite, but obviously more fun when you win money. Our last trip was with 2 good friends and we really had a ball. Probably a good thing we weren't 10 years younger - oh the trouble we could have gotten into.
3. St. Maarten. The sun is great, but probably won't make it on our list for a while. Could stay strictly Dutch, but too much French going on for me. I give my money to the US first.
Good thread......
Next trip: 3 day weekend in NYC
This is probably our favorite city, (although there are a few more big cities we want to visit), but is close to home (we are from philly), and we love the ambience of this city.
After NYC, we are looking foward to our holiday trip to Orlando in December. (no kids) (HELLO!!)
Last three trips:
1) Myrtle Beach (our #1 US beach vacation destination)
1) NYC (easter weekend) (tied with #1)
2) Carnival Cruise to Cayman islands, cozumel and new orleans
3) Orlando again for Christmas (we had a great time, which is why are going again this year)
Our next trips that we are planning for 2005/2006:
Negril Jamaica
Paris
St Lucia
1. Next trip is to Baden-Baden, Germany in 2 weeks
2. We try to get there every few months to relax and visit with relatives
3. Last 3: Vienna (10 days in March), Paris (long Valentine's Day weekend) and Baden-Baden (January trip with my mother). All were great, too hard to choose which was best!
BTilke (Brussels)
Next big trip is a cruise through the Panama Canal. It's one of those trips that has been on my list for years - and this is the year to do it!
Our last 3 trips were all great:
A) Vienna / Salzburg
B) Sedona, AZ
c) Rome, Venice and Tuscany
If I had to pick a favorite it would be Italy - but all were great!
1. Next trip, 2 week cruise to Scandanavian caps. with 2 free nights in London pre cruise.
2. Chose as we were invited to go by a family member.
3. Last 3: Best yet was Vancouver and Vancouver Island, Celebrity cruise to Western Caribbean 2000, last was Celebrity cruise to Eastern Caribbean unfortunately during 9/11/2001.
1. Next trip will be the USA, CA-NV-UT-AZ this summer
2. Wanted to fly and have a really great trip with the kids, so something to remember years after for them.
3. Scotland, Tamariu (Spain), Paris and Ardeche (France)
Our next trip is to Slovenia.
We choose this because I wanted to go to Switzerland in the summer but its really expensive, this year one of the cheap airlines from the UK has added Slovenia, so I booked it.
Our last three were Cyprus, Boston & Cape Cod (two centre) and Majorca.
We are from Connecticut and are driving south to Richmond VA, Asheville NC, Greenville SC, Savannah GA, Atlanta GA, Chattanooga TN, Winston-Salem NC and Charlottesville, VA.
We alternate each year between some place "exotic" and something domestic. I wanted to see the Biltmore Estate in Asheville so we arranged our 2-week around it. We are also planning a trip to India in 2005.
Our last three trips were to:
1. Bali (Indonesia)
2. Costa Rica
3. Bar Harbor ME, New Brunswick Canada, and Prince Edward Island Canada
Paris ... the choice was easy, naturally. Just a return to see what's changed in the past year. Probably won't get this chance for the next two years - other plans- so got a decent fare (well, sort of!) and going soon.
South Beach - Orlando - Maui.
next trip: Boca Raton, FL
How did I choose: visiting my sister and her family. was planning a vacation with a friend to Vegas but she couldnt get off work, so we are putting it off until Oct.
Last 3:1)Aruba - nice and very relaxing
2)& 3)Cancun-not favorite place to visit, but fun because of the great group friends I go with
1. Ohio,Sandusky & Cleveland, with maybe a stop at the Bass Islands. 2. That is where the Roller Coaster conference is this year.
3. A) Tennessee, Knoxville area - have been through but never stopped. The Smokies were fantastic. B) Ocean City, MD - one of my favorite areas to spend time on the beach & eat crab. Hope to get there again this year. C) Los Angeles area - my parents live in Santa Monica, love to visit - there is so much to do & enjoy the beach, but would never want to live there myself.
Next trip: small beach town near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
How did we choose: Want to see how Mexico compares to Hawaii for a tropical vacation.
Last three trips: London, San Francisco, Hawaii (Kauai & Big Island).
I am going to Minnesota next week. I am trying to see all 50 states. This will be state number 27. I chose it because the airfare was very good (LAX to MN $160 including tax and fees.)
My last three trips were: Ireland, Oahu, and Nebraska
Paris, Prague, Vienna/Budapest this May.
last 3 trips:
Cancun Mexico - favorite
Tuscany and Rome - favorite
South Africa Safari and Seychelles-
amazing experience, can't wait to go back again.
1. Kauai
2. Wanted to backpack the Na Pali Coastline before we have kids or get too out of shape
3. I am going to list our last five because they were all interesting
-Australia for 3 weeks (sydney, ayers rock, great barrier reef, and great ocean road among other sites)
-Peru (Inca trail to Machu Pichu among other sites)
-Belize and Guatemala (Ambergris Caye, San Ignacio, Tikal, Antigua, and Lake Atitlan)
-New England area (Maine coastline, mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont, Lake Placid NY)
-Isle Royale National Park, MI in Lake Superior
Next year hoping to finally head to Europe, and potentially africa.
1. To Las Vegas in September
2. Never been to sin city!
3. St. Croix
Tortola
Outer Banks of NC
actually, we love all of the above places and plan to return again soon!
1) Our next trip is to Aruba (first visit) for our 20 year wedding anniversary. (Just me & my man.)
2) This was a very hard choice ~ wanted the warmth of the Caribbean. Since we're going in November, Aruba's outside of the hurricane belt. That was definitely a big factor for the decision.
3) a. Our BEST last vacation was a 2 week road trip through Utah, Arizona & Nevada. I seriously doubt anywhere on earth will top that scenery!
b. Last month we hit the Florida Keys. Beautiful. c. New York City w/the kids. Very cool to be with them while they experienced the big city for the fist time.
I just love these kind of posts...
1. My next trip is to Canadian Rockies/Victoria/Vancouver.
2. I chose this trip because we wanted to go someplace scenic and different from the other trips we've taken recently. We spend alot of time in big cities and getting tired of the rat race.
3. Last three trips from favorite to least favorite: 1.Just returned from a 7 day Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Constellation (fab ship!!, great food and service, fun shore excursions).
2. Disneyworld/Universal Studios Orlando, FL- stayed at the Grand Floridian, booked a GREAT special rate package deal they had last year. Wasn't overly impressed with the hotel. A little too formal for my taste.
3. New Orleans. Liked the atmosphere and thought the food was great, but not someplace I go for more than a few days.
Last three trips were 1-Ft Lauderdale for the girlfriends birthday @Maikai resturant,2-Carlsbad Caverns NP as I took mom for a quick visit as she's always wanted to go there, and #3,ST Louis to cheer for GA Tech in the sweet 16 vs Nevada!.....Trying to decide on my 1st week of vacation in June...Either I'll go to St John's for some beach time and snorkling or Nebraska and the Niobra River near Valentine for some canoeing on what's supposed to be a really fun river to paddle!
1. Where is your next trip?
NYC in May
2. How did you choose?
Annual trip (month varies)
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
Lake Louise (January)Awesome
Yosemite (April) tons of water in those waterfalls. Hiked to upper Yosemite Fall
New Orleans(Dec)....love those beignets!
okay # 4 --- Hawaii (October) Incredible ****
Next trip: Las Vegas celebrating 25th wedding anniversary in June, because we love Vegas!
Last 3: 1. Carnival Cruise to Mexico ~ way fun ~ this past spring break with our kids. Youngest graduating from high school next month, oldest in 3rd year of college so who knows how many more family trips we will get to take?
2. Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, AZ in January 2002 to watch our Oregon Ducks football team beat Colorado ~ YAY! It was DH, myself, our kids and our best friends and their kids. FUN!
3. Las Vegas last spring break with the kids.
Next is Vegas.
Why? Meeting up with friends. Been a ton of times so wouldn't be going if it weren't for friends.
Last three.
Hawaii,New Orleans Turks and Caicos.
Hard to say which was best???
Had a ton of fun in NOLA because I was there for my 30th birthday with friends, but best or nicest was Turks. Most incredible beach, words and pics don't do it justice
Not a good answer I know LOL!
last trip: Vegas. Would not take my teens again (not on moral grounds, it was actually kind of boring for them.)
next trip: Playa del Carmen, Mx.
best trips in no particular order:
Cancun
Yellowstone
Germany/Austria/Sw.
Next up: Newfoundland in eight weeks. Why? When we went to Nova Scotia, we thought Newfoundland would be worth exploring. I'd gone so far as to book hotels for a San Francisco-Monterey-Yosemite-Tahoe trip this summer but after a yellow alert, California fires and mudslides I got nervous about it (yeah, foolish, I know). We'll probably go in '05.
Of our last three trips, it's a tie between Grand Tetons-Yellowstone-Rocky Mountain Ntl Park-Manitou Springs and Zion-Bryce-Lake Powell-Grand Canyon-Sedona-Las Vegas. The scenery was fantastic.
Our least favorite vacation in the last three years was easily a road trip through Maryland, Virginia and North Carolia. I planned it around Civil War battlefields and minor league baseball, my husband's interests. I guess I forgot I would be going too!
Next trip... Palm Springs next week.
Why... some friends invited us to their vacation home there, and then I will remain three extra days while hubby goes home to see some friends of mine. The girls and I will be staying at the Palm Spring Riviera Resort, it's a freebie from a refi that we did, it gets marginal reviews, do hope it will be fine, we just want somewhere clean, alot of sun, and pool time, a chance to visit and catch up.
Last three...Wailea, Maui (pure heaven)
.....Curacao (lovely)
.....and Orlando (business)
1. Next Trip(s):
Las Vegas (1st Time this Sat-Tues!!)
Chicago (June 18)
London (Study abroad:June 25-Aug. 5)
Vietnam (Christmas break)
2. Spur of the moment decisions & compromising with the Bfriend
3. Last 3 Trip
Toronto (cheap - love Chinatown), Orlando (always fun), Atlantic City (close to home, free rooms etc.)
Our next trip will be to Punta Cana next month with four other families. Not my choice of destination, but thought it would be fun for our 13 and 15 year old children to have so many friends to vacation with. We had to cancel a Jamaica trip in Feb. for medical reasons and since we had insurance coverage, our week in Punta Cana was fully paid for once we received our refund. Last 3: Orlando, England (and I do mean England) and the Outer Banks (worst holiday I ever had)
I'm updating my list...
1. In six weeks we're heading to Tibet via China.
2. My parents, my sister, and her boyfriend are doing an extensive trip through China with a short stay in Tibet on their itinerary. Due to time constraints and other commitments, we couldn't join them on their entire trip, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit Lhasa. So we're meeting up with them in Chengdu in mid-July and spending just over a week in Tibet and China. It's another place that has been on my wish list for years.
3. Just returned this week from Ecuador & the Galapagos, Jamaica, and NY
1. Next trip is to Maui next month. Can't wait!
2. Going for our wedding anniversary, and for some reason we just had to go there (well, nice beaches, snorkelling, waterfalls had something to do with it)
3. Last 3 trips:
- Playa del Carmen
- Yosemite
- Ottawa (family)
1. Next trip: Big Apple in 12 hours, going for 4 days w/my 11 yr old daughter
2. Chose NY because it is just so great- to shop, explore neighborhoods and art festivals and galleries, theater, and all that other NY stuff that is so cool w/someone you love. And mp, Howard, mclaurie, and all the other nyawkers help out so much- bless you all.
Last 3 from least fav to most fav:
1) Cape Cod to see inlaws at Thanksgiving 2003; love my inlaws and the Cape but messy divorce occurring in family was very stressful; 2) week in April in Orlando in a nice rented house w/a big heated pool and all sorts of other goodies; 3) god it seems like so long ago, but it was a week oceanfront in the OBX in August. Always a favorite of mine.
oops, I now see it was supposed to be most fav to least fav. I was bad and didn't follow directions.
Next trip; driving to Colorado in 3 weeks (to stay for the next 3-4 months). I think I like the Summer/Fall there best and I want to find out for sure.
Last three; Rome, London, and Croatia/Slovenia/Italy/Switzerland. I liked them all.
Room for one more reply here....?
1. California/Nevada - hiring a motorhome and taking our two teenage boys around abou 4000klms. We're very excited.
2. I like visiting America.
3. Central Australia - (Uluru, Kings Canyon, Palm Valley - my favourite place on earth.
New York - I just looovvve that city.
Hong Kong - Shop till you drop.
None of these are my least favourite - I love them all.
1. Where is your next trip?
Our next trip will be picking up our granddaughter in CA and taking a 2 wk car trip which will include Las Vegas and Yellowstone Park, Cody, WY, Grand Tetons.
Great thread. Interesting.
2. How did you choose?
Want to spend some time with our granddaughter who we don't get to see often.
3. What were your last 3?
1. Two Week Car trip from San Diego to San Francisco.
2. Alaska Cruise
3. Hawaiian Cruise
Banff/Lake Louise/Jasper -- we have frequent flier tickets to continental U.S. or Canada and we want to escape the Texas heat for a while! Last 3 -- Nova Scotia with mom and daughter, Sedona/Grand Canyon, and Branson. (I don't count our Christmas and spring break drives to Palm Springs and Naples, FL, as I don't like long drives and they were to visit relatives, but they're great destinations nevertheless!)
Next trip - NYC, because we fell in love with it all over again when we went in Dec 03.
Last 3 trips, NYC in Dec, Italy Aug, SoCal March.
I'm in the UK, so trying to take advantage of the $/£ exchange rate as much as possible at the moment, sorry all you guys are finding it too expensive to come over here, I can just imagine how expensive a trip to London is at the moment.
1. Hawaii, BI
2. Just had the feeling (and some ff miles to burn!)
3. Fiji, Med. cruise and Carib. cruise
Our next trip is a Caribbean cruise with the inlaws who live in Florida and we chose it because we havn't seen them in a long time. We are just back from Santa Fe Next Mexico, which we loved, and last year we spent a week in a lovely little lodge resort inside Algonquin Park in Canda and also a week on Niagara, On the Lake in Canada.
1. London-Paris-Amsterdam this summer (Jul 2)
2. Never been to Europe before, and I told myself that this IS the year that I am going!
3. Indonesia, NYC, MacKinac Island and Toronto (I dont know why I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous trips that I took).
Next trip - Montreal, for 5 days in late June - we have been there before and wanted someplace that feels "foreign" but close enough to drive from NYC.
Last 3 trips -
(1) our honeymoon, we spent 10 days driving down the CA coast, then flew to Vegas, then to Cabo San Lucas for a week...best 3 weeks of our lives!!
(2) Paris, last August - stayed for free at a friends apartment but it was the worst time of year to go, everything was closed
(3) the Bahamas (we just wanted someplace quick and cheap to get away!)
1.
Doing and short weekend in Chicago in July, next big trip will probably be Europe, or somewhere we can get a good last minute deal in November.
2.
Europe - my friends have never been there, so why not. Second choice is self explanatory.
3.
Last three trips
Ecuador/Galapagos Islands last fall - need I say anything as to why this was the favorite
San Antonio - I have to be honest the only reason this came in second was because there was some professional mountain bike convention (or something to that effect, people who ride bikes for a living) so there was plenty to look at. I'm single, got to have priorities!
Los Angeles - this would have taken second
Newbie here so I have decided my 1st post would be to this thread:
This will be our (hubby & me) 2nd trip there. The last time was 10 years ago when we were dating. Looking forward to returning.
Next Trip - Key West. Leaving this Saturday
Our last 3 trips in order of favorites:
1) Maui Hawaii - 2 weeks to celebrate my husbands retirement from the NYC Police Department this past Dec. This was our second visit (1st time honeymooned there). Maui is the best.
2) Turks & Caicos Islands - beautiful water. Stayed at Beaches. Like the all inclusive style.
3) Las Vegas - just because it's Vegas.
Our next trip is to the Outer Banks - Corolla to be exact. We chose it because we wanted a nice family beach vacation not far from where we live.
My last three trips were to:
1) Maui and Oahu
2) Napa and Sonoma
3) Disneyworld
Sounds like a SAT question.
next: my home in San Miguel de Allende, MX - now - 29 Sept.
most recent: UK, NW PT and Galicia, SP.
SMdA in June
San Diego/Rosarito in May
USVI and BVI in Jan
Montreal in early Dec.
SMdA all Sept, July '03.
Least fav - SAN - lived there '75 - '80
way different now.
M
Next trip to Chicago - let the kids pick this one (they love cities)

Bermuda
San Francisco
NYC for what the Brits call a 'dirty weekend'
Next trip: Lake Tahoe
last 3:
1. London & Berlin
2. Puerto Rico
3. Las Vegas
1. from Ontario to Maritime provinces & Newfoundland (Canada) then loop down thru Maine (Acadia Nat'l P), to NYC and home.
2. Chosen because my girlfriend has never been and wants to see east coast. Added NYC on because both of us have never been.
3. Last 3 in order of fav to least fav
- CO/WY/SD
- Ireland/Northern Ireland
- Charleston SC & Washington DC
Next trip - Hawaii (Oahu, Big Island, and Maui) in Sept-Oct. Why - because we haven't been there!
Last 3 -
1. France - for a month!
2. Ireland, No. Ireland
3. Spain
I love this question so thought I'd bump it up again.
We're of the LV/Grand Canyon/Bryce/Zion for 12 days. Picked it because we are trying to take our children (8 and 10) to the National Parks and my husband hadn't been to GC before.
Our last three from favorite to least favorite:
St. Croix (love The Buccaneer)
Disney World (for parents' 50th)
Cape Cod (have a house there)
Geez -- everytime I see this thread come up, rather than "just for fun" as the OP states, I have nightmares of old pop quizes in HS or college. Yikes.
rb_travelerxATyahoo: As the OP, every time I see this thread come up, I think, "Oh, no, not again!"
Donna
Sept 17: 2 week Windstar cruise starting in Papeete Tahiti.
I was very impressed with a trip I took in July with my 19 year old son on the windspirit from Athens to Nice and learned that the Windstar would soon leave the south pacific for good at the end of this year. Since this was my last chance to take the 2 week trip to the Marquesas I decided it was now or never. I also choose this trip because I have traveled to tahiti many times before and I really like the remoteness of it.
My most recent trip to Europe was very memorable
from Athens to Nice on a boat, then by train thru Switzerland. You can't beat the raw beauty of the Alps.
1. Washington DC and New York City (tomorrow!)
2. To meet my niece and her husband in DC and U S Open tennis in NYC.
3. Cambodia/Thailand/Malaysia(February), Paris(May), Croatia(July)
1. Where is your next trip?
Las Vegas (Sept)
2. How did you choose?
Our Annual Girls Only Weekend in Vegas
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
Playa Del Carmen
Akumal, Mexico
New Smyrna Beach, FL
1. Grocery store and dry cleaners
2. An ATM machine
3. The world ... it's a jungle, literally, out there!
1. Ireland
2. Chose this because we LOVED our trip to Scotland 6 years ago, and both our families have Irish roots.
3. Real trips, not including a few weekend jaunts . . . Sedona; Las Vegas; Paris.
My next trip is to Las Vegas.
We have to attend a convention.
Last three trips:
Last October, husband and two adult children and I spent a week at the Sorrell River Ranch in Moab Utah.
Trip before that was to Destin Florida to enjoy some sun in the Spring.
My best trip was to Vancouver in 2001 again with husband and two adult children. White water rafting, horseback riding and magnificent scenery.
1. Blue Ridge Parkway.
2. We were on business in Asheville last year and drove the parkway from Asheville to the Smokeys. We liked it so much we decided to drive the whole thing starting in Front Royal, VA.
3. a) Gatlinburg/Smokey Mountain National Park (more business - we wanted to see what lie beneath the glitz and tackiness of Gatlinburg on our way to business) b)Michigan's Upper Peninsula (Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks Nat'l Lakeshore). c)Charleston, SC (Not as impressed as most others are - I guess I was expecting something more like Colonial Williamsburg - Kiawah Island was nice).
4. Does anybody read these these broadcast posts? What is the point?
methinks it's time for this thread to be treated like a sleeping dog.
Next trip is to San Fran for a week with side trips to wine country, Carmel and Monterey, Sausilito. We were there 10 years ago with kids and loved it and want a chance to spend more time there. We also love Chinese food and they have the best Chinatown. Hmmm, last three trips were Canadian Rockies and heli-hiking in the mountains plus the resorts of Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper all with Tauck tours. Absolutely fantastic and incredible tour - great time. Also visited New Orleans and loved it and am going back in January - it is so different from anywhere else in the US and is charming, exciting, fun, captivating and has great shopping for unusual things. Finally, Niagara Falls on Canada side. Visited first time ever over Labor Day - outstanding!! Not touristy and honky tonk as I thought - just specatacular. Make sure to take the short trip up to Niagara on the lake and try to take in the Shaw Theatre Festival if you can. Lovely, upscale town, nice to stroll... also, you will pass lots of wineries. Least fave was cruise to Alaska. Did not like the tacky touristy stuff in Fairbanks like the riverboat and panning for gold place. It also rained a ton, everything is very expensive. Scenery was great, but perhaps cruising on a large ship wasnt the best way to see it. It was a wonderful cruise, just that you asked for my least favorite. THe rain and mosquitoes really got to me.
1. Next trip is probably in Oct to Reykjavik, Iceland.
2. BF is Icelandic, We enjoy going back there.
3. Las Vegas (July), Boston (Jan), SF (This past weekend)
Next trip Oahu- will move shortly
Last 3....
Oahu
Zambia
New Zealand
I work for a Travel Agency!
Am I hallucinating, or were there a bunch of posts deleted from here between August 26 and 30? I posted yesterday - I THINK it was on this thread - about wanting to see the Northern Lights. There were a number of helpful and friendly responses. Now, I can't find any of that. What do you figure? Or am I thinking of a different thread??
Whoops - sorry - I was thinking of a different thread. I posted under "where to go next." My apologies. Please disregard everything I say from now on ...

SoCal - Sept. - family matters.
Philadelphia - Sept. - ditto.
Edinburgh, Prague, Istanbul - Dec/Jan - starting RTW after we sober up.
Last - Israel/Italy/Spain - May. No complaints.
1. Maui
2. We have been once. We are going with our grown daughters and they have never been. Going to celebrate one of the daughter's 1st anniversary.
3. Belize last September for the daughter's wedding. Maui last year. Peurto Rico last February.
The next trip will, hopefully will be an Alaska cruise. The last three listed from the best on down were:
1. The BI last month
2. Med. cruise 2002
3. Carib. cruise and stay over in St. Thomas 2003
To answer your questions....
1. Our next trip is to Boston and NYC (next week)
2. Why?...My husband has never visited Boston, I would like to see how the 'Big Dig' is progessing...and to celebrate our six month wedding anniversary.
3. Our last three trips...
(1) Mayan Rivera, Mexico ... because it was for our wedding;
(2) Paris, France...because it was the start of our honeymoon;
(3) London, England...because it was the end of our honeymoon
Like Minya, the last poster, our next trip is to Boston, next weekend. I chose Boston, North Shore Massachusetts and Maine because New England is on "our list" of places to go before we die, I have a cousin who lives there, and my husband is on a 6-month sabbatical leave. No kids on this trip.
Our last three trips (all with kids) were to:
1. England (London, Yorkshire, Hadrian's Wall) and Scotland in July
2. Pierre and Huron, South Dakota (it's State Fair time) yesterday and today
3. Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio in August (in-laws).
Last 3
1) Washington State (Mt. Baker, San Juans, Vancouver)
2) NYC
3) Vegas
Next not sure about the next one. Either Mexico or a cruise. Also a mom & daughter trip to NYC.
1. We're headed for Paris and Kenya in January.
2. Another place that I've wanted to visit for a very long time is East Africa, but living in LA I always found the travel distance and airfares daunting! Last month I found out I could use my ff miles on KLM to Nairobi and decided to go for it. I was very lucky to find a few dates with business class seats. I still can't believe that in a span of less than 12 months, I'll have visited 3 places that were at the top of my 'wish list' for years!
3. Last three (not in order of preference, I loved them all): Tibet, Ecuador & Galapagos, Jamaica
1. Our next trip is to Peru. We leave on 12/7.
2. we chose Peru because we saw a fabulous deal and we hadn't been there before.
3. Our last 3 trips -
San Diego (long weekend in September)
Sonoma and Hawaii (we had a wedding in Sonoma then went to Kauai)
Bahamas (a short cruise)
The best of these was Kauai!!!
Next trip: St. John, V.I.
I chose this because it sounds most like my favorite place (Kauai) and DH doesn't want to go to Hawaii AGAIN!
Kauai last August (Favorite)
San Diego in June (Nice, but not enough beach time.)
Germany/Austria in March (Least favorite because it was cold. We had no choice on the seasons - we were there for a celebration.)
Acadia National Park in July. My husband loves hiking and camping so he chose it. Our last three trips from favorite to least are Santa Fe (we took the train all the way across the country, Algonquin Provincial Park in Canada (some of the most beautiful nature I've ever seen) and a cruise to Mexico and Jamaica (planned by my mother-in-law and not what I would have chosen to do but it was nice to get away and reconnect with relatives).
At this point it looks like I will be going to Hawaii in April and than to Italy late May for the month of June.
And talk of another trip to Italy Feb. 2006.
And probably somewhere in between Portland OR and Santa Barbara (Ojai).
Next trip is to Germany on T'giving Day. I'm going over to join my husband, who left for Switzerland a few days ago and will meet me in Kassel. We'll have two weeks in Germany and Switzerland, and maybe see northern Italy.
Last trip was just yesterday! I just returned home from a 4-day trip to San Francisco. Before that, I made a 4-day trip to Houston in mid Nov. I was in Australia, Cook Islands, and Tahiti/Bora Bora in mid August to early Sept. for 3 weeks. Caribbean cruise was early August. Thailand was in June/July of this year. Europe was in April. I've done 55,000 miles on UAL this far in 2004.
(I've just retired this year!! Now I've got the time to get out and explore!)
Favorite? Ooooh, too hard to pick. Each destination has its positives. Thailand is the most exotic.
1. Next Trip: Puerto Rico
2. Wanted to go somewhere warm and inexpensive for New Years Eve.
3. Costa Rica, St. John's USVI, Spain (Barcelona/Costa Roses)
1. Going to Hawaii!
2. It's for business but boss is letting me and hubby go for a 4 extra days. I work for Dairy Queen(is that really work)lol
3. New Orleans 2001- Just turned 21 and it was the first trip with my now hubby.
WDW 2003-It was fun to be able to act silly and not have anybody care.
Phoenix 2005-We went in January and it rained the whole time we were there and was't very warm.
1. Our next trip is one month in Scotland!
2. We love Scotland and haven't seen everything there we want to see yet.
3. Our last 3 trips were weekenders -- 1 trip to Las Vegas (wedding anniversary) and 2 to Reno (family get-togethers). I don't know that I have a least favorite of any of those. They were more for relaxation and enjoying the company of each other and family rather than for sightseeing (lots of eating and talking, talking and eating, etc.). Our last sightseeing-type trip was a 2-week trip to Southern California that included the Disneyland Resort. That was lots of fun (always like Disneyland). We were there for an ABC Soap Opera Festival and I got to meet some of my favorite soap stars while DH took pics of me with them. All in all some good cheesy fun!
1. Where is your next trip?
** for a week to either the British Virgin Islands or Cozumel in the fall. also going on a three nighter to Ocean city, MD in June.
2. How did you choose?
**cause we always go to either Mexico or the Caribbean every fall so my wife can relax on a beautiful beach and i can snorkle
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
**no particular order as i loved all these vacations:
-April 05 ... Las Vegas/Grand Canyon
-October 04 ..Barbados
-April 04 ... Europe (London, Paris, & Amsterdam)
some smaller trips during the last year included New York City and Lancaster County PA (Amish country)
1. Seattle/Olympic Peninsula
2. We've got friends in Seattle, we love microbrews and Olympic National Park looks magical
3. Last 3 trips:
- Glacier National Park, Montana. Our first trip to the Rockies. They did not disappoint.
- Minnesota. The North Shore of Lake Superior was spectacular. As we say in NYC: who knew?
- Holland/Belgium. All was well until I got food poisoning from mussels -- one of the things that made us go to Belgium in the first place. Feh. Avoid Chez Leon in Brussels at all costs.
Great thread!
1- Charleston SC or Boston
2- Fodorites always help me and my hubby choose our next trip. They are better thne any old travel agent or magazine.
3- All are favorites, I love each for different reasons.
NYC
Kauai Hawaii (and Oahu this would be my least favorite)
Salzburg and Viena Austria and teh romantic road in Germany.
This is fun: it's been almost a year since I posted an answer on this thread.
1. Berlin-Dresden-Prague-Vienna-Budapest (July 2005); Taiwan-Indonesia (Dec 2005)
2. I've always been fascinated with the countries in Central Europe, so this is my big fat chance to go. I am visiting relatives in Indonesia, and will finally take up the offer of a friend to visit him in Taiwan.
3. Amsterdam (Loved its laid back atmosphere, so many things to do in such a compact place) , New York (what's NOT to love about the city), and Jamaica (I didn't care for the resort very much).
Our next big trip will be to New Zealand in 2 years, except for a short trip to Edmonton this July. (We live near Whistler, BC).
Have friends living there and look forward to spending at least a month touring New Zealand, and will also visit friends in Australia while we are there.
Last 3 trips: (not counting Vegas in Feb.)
1. France (summer of 2004)
2. Australia Dec, 2002
3. UK (England, Wales and Paris) 2002
Did home exchanges in the UK, France and Australia. Met some wonderful people who have become lifetime friends. Had a taste of France with a short trip to Paris in 2002 and couldn't wait to explore more of the country - a fabulous trip.
While in UK, explored Edinburgh and many cities in England including Liverpool which was fantastic with the Mathew Street Music Festival/International Beatles Week (showing my age now). Wales was gorgeous and so friendly. I would go back to all those places but so many other places to see first!
Next trip
eattle for a long weekend.
We chose because my beloved sister lives there and we can watch her kids play baseball.
Last three:
Favorite:France in 10/04
next: Portland,Oregon in July 2004 for a rendezvous with friends who =family
I realize now we need more trips. We head to Point Reyes for an extended weekend in June(beloved's bday), we head to Portland 9/05 for that same gathering of friends and then in 10/05
2 weeks NYC,the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires.
Next up, New York City. Cause ya just have to go every so often!
Last year's three best trips: 1) Croatia, with a stop in Venice. Amazing. 2) Colorado - loved the scenery, hiking, everything.
3) Fort Lauderdale. Yuk. Sprawl, traffic, college kids. Nice weather though.
1. Alaska
2. Love hiking, never been, might try a small-boat cruise
3. Best: Barcelona (lively, fun city with lots to see) also did a side trip to Mont Louis in France, which was a cool, little fortified town in southern France. (We intended to go to Andorra, but our arrangements got messed up)
2nd best: New Mexico - cool hiking south of Santa Fe with scenery that looks like a set from the original Star Trek
3rd best: Prague and Vienna. Prague is really changing before your eyes. Vienna is beautiful and great food.
1. LAKE POWELL/LAS VEGAS (NEXT WEEK
2. MY HUSBAND SUGGESTED IT CAUSE HE WENT TO LAKE POWELL ON A GUY TRIP AND WANTED MY SON AND I TO SEE IT TOO!
3. MY GIRL TRIP TO THE BAHAMAS, WALT DISNEY WORLD, MONTEGO BAY
1. Where is your next trip?
Spain in Sept/Oct for 3 weeks.
2. How did you choose?
I won free airfare to anywhere in the world from a local radio station. I was supposed to say where I was going to go, and really couldn't decide. The DJ tried to help me out by mentioning some places, and when she said "Madrid" I immediately pictured flamenco dancers, flowering balconies, and windmills. I had the opportunity to change it, but didn't.
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
This is tough, but here goes:
1. Tempe, Arizona for Angels Baseball Spring Training. Never been before and I felt like it was a theme park for adults! Can't wait to go back next year!
2. San Francisco. Yeah, I know. Tempe over San Fran?? But I've been to San Fran lots of times before, still love it, but Tempe (Spring Training) was just a totally new and different experience!
3. Short cruise to Catalina/Mexico. Not really a "favorite" - it was my first cruise - but it is someplace I went to.
1. I don't have one planned... =( Hoping England in June for the Glastonbury Fest.
2. It's the best concert environment in the world.
3. Vancouver
London
Virginia Beach (cheered my mom on in her 2nd marathon)
1. Next trip - Alaska
2. Heard amazing things about it
3. Last 3 favorites: Capri, Istanbul, Santorini
I see this thread has been revived...
Next trip: Central Europe late May (see you there h2babe?)
Past three, all enjoyable:
Chesapeake Bay plus Hudson Valley, Mass.

Colorado Mnts for 50th wedding anniv
Ozarks Bill
walongman@yahoo.com
My next trip is a Duoro River Cruise in Portugal and Spain in October. Really looking forward to that. I've heard Portugal is beautiful.
I chose it for my 40th birthday. The previous poster was right...it does hurt less.
My last 3 trips were:
1) London England to visit a friend.
2) Upstate NY and finger lakes to visit family and wine tasting.
3) San Diego to visit another friend.
My next trip is China in September! Always wanted to visit the "motherland" and am finally going having had to cancel 2 years ago due to SARS.
Last 3 trips, all highly enjoyable:
1. Yosemite - spectacular waterfalls
2. Amsterdam (for my 40th - it only gets better from here krisbtx!)
3. Phoenix & Tucson areas - hiking is saguaroland & Cubs spring training
Next trip-in-planning, driving northwest USA and western Canada for 5-6 weeks, northern autumn 2006. We last visited the US in 1996 for 7 weeks, touched on many parts of the country and now want to see one part at greater leisure - not to mention make contact with our Canadian cousins.
Among our last few trips (each 3 weeks) we don't have a favourite - they were all very different, all memorable:
China, to visit our two currently-resident daughters in Dalian but also took in Bingyu Valley, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Zhouzhuang. A fascinating study in contrasts - an ancient, surprisingly diverse culture and sometimes startlingly modern culture on the rise to superpower status, populated by a good-humoured, gregarious and curious people. Ate from many street stall with no ill-effects - but buying an expectorant cough medicine in a Chinese pharmacy really tests your sign language skills. Saying anything comprehensible in Mandarin was harder than I thought.
A 3-week New Zealand driving holiday - relaxing among beautiful scenery and friendly natives. Fortunately, our visit didn't coincide with a NZ- Australia Rugby or cricket match, matters of some passion. The Kiwis really have their tourism act together.
Vietnam - from Ho Chi Minh City north to Hanoi. Beautiful countryside, fascinating history and culture, great food and courteous, outgoing and energetic people (who don't hold a grudge). The tonal language appears to be no easier than Chinese and attempts to use it can, as in China, result in
much hilarity.
Longer-term plot: Italy and France, hopefully for some months. Language classes beckon.
The best feature of our travels has been the people we've met. We look forward to more of the same.
Can't believe how fast the time flies!

Since the start of this thread I'm back from Switzerland. And from New England (Boston and beyond). And from Las Vegas. And from Portland, OR.
Probably Palm Springs, CA in September. Hopefully Copper Canyon, Mexico - January?? February?? After that Israel in October? Next year in Jerusalem
Oahu, Kauai, maui
Next Trip: NYC
How did I choose?: Turning 21 on the Fourth of July and always wanted to see the fireworks in the city. My best friend also lives in Manhattan and has his 21st birthday on July 5th.
Last 3:
NYC - Visiting said friend for the Memorial Day weekend
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Family trip with my parents and little brothers
NYC - Visiting in January.
Couldn't choose an order since NYC seems to be visited several times in other trips. It is the place for me. Not only visiting but vacationing on my own. I love the city and all that is there as well as the people. Mexico was nice, but when with the family i have less of a say in what we do and I don't like that very much.
Seattle/ O.P
never even considered anyplace else.
Seattle, Topsail, Sarasota
1. Where is your next trip?
*** Ireland in November (a week)
2. How did you choose?
*** Just four of us looking for a good place to visit and we all have Irish descent in our blood (and only one of the four had been to Ireland).
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
*** Florence, Italy (wonderful time and had a great apartment rented close to the center of town).
*** Maui, Hawaii (weather was nice and the only thing I will remember next time is to make sure I bring my golf clubs).
*** London, England (somehow we squeezed three straight days of sunshine in a row... very bustling town).
My next trip will be into Chicago tonight to view Nancy Faust's 35th anniversary with the White Sox. The organ will be going for all OUR players tonight as it did in 1970 when I saw her for the first time. Each player will get his signature song tonight. I wonder what Mark Buhrle's will be!
Happy Anniversary, Nancy. Thanks for all and especially Na!Na! Goodbye! Nancy, you are the real thing.
All my next trips will be to other cities' White Sox games, we are going to be in the World Series this year. I didn't choose as much as my boys (now men) chose for me. But I have a BIG smile on my face.
My last three: Ft.Lauderdale, Cozumel, LA/Anaheim (all since Feb.).
If anyone is interested, Grinder (42 game plans) are on sale and with them you get all play off tickets. We are buying tonight as sections are almost gone. You will find us in 544-548. We love the Upper Deck.
Next trip is to Libya in Oct - can't wait - only been open for tourism for about 3yrs so completely untouched.
Last 3
Best - Lebanon and Syria - completely fell in love with Lebanon (esp Beirut girls!) - Syria is fascinating (and relatively untouched)
Oman/Dubai - bit of a cheat - this was with work, but Oman is fantastic developing destination
Jordan - beautiful - but over done in places, glad i've been but not sure i'd go back.
Next trip is to Ireland this fall. A few days in Dublin and then off to the west coast area stopping at sites along the way.
Last Three: Can't pick a best, because each is so different.
New Mexico (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos)- Just got back. What beautiful scenery. I rented a convertible and went out driving every day. Did some hiking. Went to some Pueblos. Found wonderful restaurants!!!
Paris. Went in April. I love Paris and was more special this time because my daughter went with me.
Lake Cumberland, KY: Went last fall. I try to go somewhere and rent a cabin in the woods every year. Seldom leave the cabin. This is my annual "destresser". Never had gone to KY to do this (have gone to TN and WV). Really liked the Lake Cumberland area.
A long-running thread, but the topic is a good one!
For me:
1) Next--to Munich in Oct. '05
2) Because--DH has a conference to attend, and I insist on coming along
3) Last 3 by preference--
>Venice/Ravenna, Mar. '05--Seeing the mosaics in Ravenna was a high point of my travel life!
>New York, June '05--I love to visit DH's family, and his cousin's wedding was lovely!
>Athens, Sept. 04--A lot of wonderful things to see, but the heat was suffocating.
Next trip: Vegas in August for a week. Best friend's wedding...should be a blast.
Choosing trip: It varies on what I want to do. Unless there's a great deal to be had.
Last 3 trips:
1. Maine 2004 (New Years)--Cold but great. A nice change from Florida
2. London 2003 (Vacation)--Absolute favorite. I did a solo trip for 7 days and loved every moment of it.
3. European Tour 2001--I went with an ex-teacher on her class trip. I learned a lot about Europe. Also learned of what places to come back to.
Hi,
1 - Next trip is to Tuscany in September.
2 - My husband's best friend is getting married there.. and my husband is the best man.
3 - Last 3 trips:
Post Ranch Inn - Went in March for our wedding anniversary. It was heaven on earth. The most beautiful and relaxing place I've ever been.
Normandy - Went last November to see the D-Day beaches and other sights. Was a very moving and interesting trip. The people of Normandy were so friendly and haven't forgotten what America has done for them. In addition, the food was amazing.
The Atlantis - Paradise Island-- Love this place. Lots of fun.. have been a few times.
1. My next trip is to Miami and Key West.
2. We are going with my brother and his new wife. He has gone many times and his company has a condo on the beach. We coordinated our visit with the Hemingway Festival.
3. Playa del Carmen- awesome, great beaches, not commercialized like Cancun
Vegas, baby- what is not to like?
Mall of America- not many high-end stores, OK restaurants, and frankly a bit overwhelming!
1. Cruise to Mexico
2. Great price on a mini-suite
3. Galapagos cruise, Cancun, Los Cabos
I am trying to choose my next trip now. New England, an old favorite, or San Diego or an island. Liked all my trips for different reasons, last 3 were:
2004 Return to Paris, + Brussels/Brugge put together with help and opinions from this Board! This was one of my fave trips because I stayed in small wonderful hotels, walked daily to market, spoke French most of trip.
2003 Tour of France
2002 Italy in Novmember - needs more people and warmer weather
Next trip: Las Vegas
Went out with a group of friends and it was all about gambling and drinking. This time one friend and I are going to relax and enjoy the city, plus a little gambling.
Last 3 Trips:
South Africa; San Diego, CA; Marquette, MI
Next trip = leaving tomorrow for New Hampshire
How did we choose = husband's family reunion - chosen for us
Last 3 = Barbados (hands down favorite), Canyon Ranch - Lenox, MA (long weekend getaway with girlfriends - no husbands, no kids), Indiana (don't make me go back, please).
1. Kaua`i! We leave in 7 days.
2. It's our third year in a row. We are hooked.
3. Post Ranch Inn/Big Sur in February. Sea Ranch in April. Seattle earlier this month.
-Bill
Oahu in November for 2 weeks. Arrive the day before Thanksgiving.
DH and I had enough miles on Delta to go and they had 2 seats available the days we picked - so we took it as a sign that we had to go!
Catalina Island
Oahu
Laguna Beach
Next trip: Seattle/Tacoma, for the U.S. Go Congress early August, via Deer Valley, Utah.

Last three:
Japan (May)
Europe (Nov.)
Costa Rica (Feb.)/Alaska (July) (both adventure trips)
we seem to have done a lot of traveling in the past 9 months
Chattanooga in August We were looking for some place new that was w/in driving distance & saw a blurb on the travel channel. 1. Puerto Rico 2. Various trips to the Brunswick Islands, NC 3. Amelia Island, Fl.
1. Our next trip is to St. John, USVI for my husband's 30th birthday.
2. Since it is his birthday, he got to choose wherever in the world he wanted to go. He loves St. John (it will be our third trip there).
3. Our last three vacations in order from favorite to least favorite are
1. Our next trip is to St. John, USVI for my husband's 30th birthday.
2. Since it is his birthday, he got to choose wherever in the world he wanted to go. He loves St. John (it will be our third trip there).
3. Our last three vacations in order from favorite to least favorite are
1st - Anguilla/St. Barts (this was my 30th birthday pick)
2nd - Vegas (my husband loves Vegas - we are going again the week after we get back from St. John)
3rd - Antigua (I normally would have ranked Antigua above Vegas, but I got e. coli on this trip, so it was not much fun for me)
Oops - sorry about the screw up above with my post - I hit the button too soon. Anyway, I forgot - our very next trip isn't to St. John but it's to Charleston for our 5th anniversary.
Fun to see everyone's recent travels and choices.

Next trip: Las Vegas in two weeks. Chose it just because I'm ready to go on a girls trip back to sin city for a few days
Last trip, and most favorite was Thailand. Already planning the return!
Second favorite, Chicago. What a wonderful, beautiful and inviting city to play in!
Third favorite is Disneyland. We had a lot of fun there, but even my 8 year old daughter loved Chicago more and would rather go back there!
Happy travels!
Leaving for Colorado middle of next month. Going for sightseeing... and to meet some distant relatives for the first time.
Last three trips:
Gulf Coast, Florida (always a favorite)
Washington, DC
Southern CA
Next trip is India. It's a place I've always been curious about and my travel friend and I decided to go there in November.
Last 3 were:
Vietnam/Cambodia/Thailand--loved this trip the most, I think!
Alaska
Costa Rica
Can't really say whether Alaska or CR were better...both were fantastic in their own ways. Thoroughly enjoyed both.
We have rented a Frank Lloyd Wright House in Willoughby, OH for a week. Thought it would be wonderful to actually live in one of his houses for a week.
1. Capetown/Pretoria/Mbabane Being on the Cape of Good Hope was one of those lifetime experiences.
2. Amelia Island, Florida. Like being in Cape Cod. Lovely quiet beach..not too touristy
3. Williamsburg at Christmas. Was very disappointing. It has become too commercial. Not at all what I expected.
Thanks for posting about Williamsburg, Rubytwo. We had thought about going there this Christmas.
1 & 2) Don't know yet
3) Honolulu, Switzerland, Honolulu
1. Seven weeks from now, we will be driving from Brussels to Baden-Baden, then on to the Austrian Alps for a week, followed by five days in Bellagio, a few days in Werfen (outside Salzburg), a night in Burghausen (eastern Bavaria) and then either a night or two in central Germany or back to Brussels.
2. Last year, we did our vacation in the Loire Valley and Berry. This year, we decided to make it a German language trip (except for Bellagio). We found a great deal at the 5 star Royal Trofana hotel (www.trofana.at) which became the centerpiece of our vacation--the other destinations were worked around it.
3. central Florida (one week in June), Paris (long week-end in May), and Vienna (two weeks in Feb/March).
kswl: I was so disappointed in teh whole trip that I ended up writing the Williamsburg Foundation. I have supported the Foundation for years, and had anticipated this trip so much. It may be a nice place to go at other times, but Christmas is really over-hyped. I would go to Biltmore again for the holidays, but never Williamsburg.
1. Next trip: Moab, Utah next week for 5 days.
2. How did you choose: friend is getting married in Arches National Park so vacation by default (gotta love it when you HAVE to go on holiday)
3. Last 3 vacations were:
1. 5 days at our cottage in Canada: awesome very relaxing took our daughter to African Lion Safari taken 2 weeks ago
2. Week in Barre de Navidad, Mexico taken this past January
3. Montreal taken last August
1. Fort Lauderdale, Florida. For almost 3 weeks.
2. I want the sun and the sea. My husband loves the US and Zima. It´s also our honeymoon.
3. St. Barts, the most fantastic island I´ve ever been to. (feb-00)
Rhodes, Greece (aug-99 and sept-00)
Our next trip is to Spain in January. We chose it because we were trading our timeshare. We didn't have any particular place in mind except that we just wanted to go away. In looking at all available destinations, we saw a 2 bedroom available at the Marriott Marbella Beach Resort and said, "Why not?" It will be too cool for the beach, but will be a blast anyway.
Our last 3:
1. California - Anaheim/San Diego - Just got back last week. San Diego is my new favorite city. Just a beautiful, fun place.
2. Florida - Deerfield Beach area in March - A great trip because we were with family.
3. Las Vegas - December - Just my husband and I which was so nice.
1. Probably Costa Rica.
2. Because Egypt which would be our following trip had to be posponed because it is not very safe for the time being.
3.North of Italy-Greece and Turkey-Thailand-Cambodia. No preferences the 3 of them were georgeous and can't be compared.Haydee
Next trip: Cruise on Windstar from Athens to Rome.
How did we choose?: My husband chose the last couple trips and I've wanted to see some of Greece since writing my undergraduate thesis. Will tour some of the islands, also Sicily and Capri. I can't wait!
Last three trips:
Alaska (flew to Anchorage and rented a car, drove to Denali, Talkeetna, down to Seward and back to Anchorage.) This was an unbelievable trip that everyone should experience. Alaska is one of the last open frontiers. Marx Brothers Cafe in Anchorage is not to be missed if you love wine--great wine list with very knowledgeable sommeliers. Where else can you find a Chateau Petrus listed for only $ 400?
Montreal: A little of France, a lot of polite and civilized Canada, a nice, easy city vacation with lots to see and do. Easy to get to, easy to tour, very, very nice people, great food. The French are genetically wired to be fantastic cooks!
Switzerland/Bavaria/Austria/Brenner Pass: Austria is an easy country to tour via auto, breathtaking scenery, Saltzburg is delightful as is Innsbruck. You can eat off the streets in Switzerland, a fantastic country with sensible people and high quality of life. Bavaria was what you'd imagine: mountains, picturesque small villages and old growth forests--quite stunning. What I did not like was driving 120 mph everywhere we went, looking at a map and being my husband's navigator. He loves the autobahn but I spent too much time staring at the Michelin map. He saw more than his passenger! I told him next time we are going to rent the most powerful car available with a GPS system. Driving in Vienna is a nightmare as well. But he wants to drive, doesn't want to be limited by a train route. We also booked hotels as we went with some hits and some misses. Price doesn't tell the whole story. We had a fantastic resort hotel near Salzburg with a gourmet restaurant attached for $ 140 a night and other hotels in the same general price range with tiny rooms and bathrooms that smelled of urine. No rhyme or reason.
Next trip is to San Francisco. I've always wanted to go there, and I had flyer miles.

Last 3 trips... went to Nashville last, and before that we went to New York City. Before that, was Paris! Don't know that I can rank them... it's comparing apples and oranges. Love Nashville mostly because our son and daughter-in-law are there, but we enjoy the city too. It's laid back and relaxed, and we enjoy eating at places like the Loveless Cafe and Monell's. Also have a favorite Irish bar that's always our first stop, McCreary's in Franklin, TN. Paris is probably our favorite spot in the world, and we try to get there every year. We have for the past 5 years, but this year we're going to San Francisco instead. We absolutely loved New York! We went to a couple of shows, ate New York pizza and bagels, and took the subway and buses everywhere! We'll definitely be back
Sandy
Next trip will be to Bryson City, NC
The Smokies in Oct. will be spectacular.
1. Ireland - wonderful, friendly, beautiful, easy to drive thru - LOVED IT!
2. Las Vegas - one of our favorite places to go.
3. Kauai -expected too much, therefore it was disappointing. Pictures and memories are good.
1) Next trip is Hawaii for 10 days
2) Originally was going to visit London & France, current events changed my mind
3) California (Santa Barbara, Monterey, San Francisco); Rhode Island / Cape Cod; Orlando
1)Next trip - Vegas, 3 nights at the Bellagio in August.
2)Why? It's much warmer there, still haven't seen O, easy to get to from the Bay Area, I haven't been for 15 years and I hear it has changed!
3)Last three overseas trips:
India Nov/Dec 2004
Brazil Aug 2004
Thailand 2005
Welltraveled,
Vegas in August not my idea of fun. But the Bellagio is by far my favorite hotel. It's beautiful.
1) Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland
2) Not on the Euro, family history there.
3) Switzerland
London
Las Vegas
Next trip, unless weekends in Louisville or Chicago, is timeshare in EdinBURGH.. Because..always researching for next trip to London or Scotland and this was available in May!
Last 3 trips: New Orleans in July for Mensa convention, had extra day because of Hurricane Dennis. Victoria BC with stopover in Seattle in May, because we saw timeshare available there and had never been to that part of the world, and few days in Chicago in January because we go there about once a year and we got tickets to Spamalot.
1. Next trip – Mediterranean Cruise
2. Was in Europe in June 2005 and wanted to go back, have not been on a cruise for a number of years and thought the combination was perfect
3. London, Paris and Vienna (June 2005); Hawaii (June 2004); and Las Vegas, love the Venetian (June 2003) (I enjoyed them all)
Do you mean trips or vacations? I ask because in retrospect, I don't know that they qualify as actual trips but.
1. Next trip, Napa with 4 other couples.
2. Chosen because we all love wine and it's easier than Italy for a long weekend.
3. Last 3, Nantucket, the outer Banks and a caribbean cruise.
Clearly I have to strike out further afield.
Next vacation, Venice in October. Picked it as a finaly pre-baby fling and fear of losing our UA frequent flier miles, plus we love Italy and haven't been to Venice.
Last 3: NYC and Jersey shore last August; Vegas last March; Disney last May.
Next trip will probably be the Smokies in NC. I chose the Smokies because it would be budget, I can drive there, and I haven't been there in a long time and forgot what it is like. After spending so much money in my last couple of trips, this one would be much more cheaper.
My last three were Grand Canyon/Las Vegas, Yellowstone/Grand Teton, and Cozemel,Mexico. I like all these trips the same, I just ordered them in the order I went on them.
Greek/Eastern Med cruise, or
Tahitian islands cruise, or
Cook islands. HAven't decided yet.
1. ATL to the GTG next weekend!
2. iceeu2 and OWJ forced me into into it!
(they helped me obtain a priceline 4
star hotel for $69!)
3. Hawaii, Paris (actually an even
draw)
and London, all great!
I really don't think I've had a bad
trip!
Belle
1.) Next vacation is Spain
2.) We want to see as much overseas before we have children!
3.) Last 3 were:
Italy (Rome/Tuscany) and England (East Anglia and London)-favorite because we LOVE Italy and saw where my husband was born in England
Paris (2nd because it was literally last minute-booked at 9pm the night before and SOOO romantic!)
Jekyll Island, GA-always a favorite, not my least favorite by any stretch of the imagination, but we go every year.
1. Cruise from Ft. Lauderdale around the Eastern Caribbean to Manaus, Brazil. COOL!
2. Have close friends in the industry. When they can get us on one of these cruises, we don't care where it's going. Cruising is not our first choice, but when they have itineraries like this, LET'S GO!!!
3. a. Mediterranean cruise, Monte Carlo to Athens. Nothing more need be said. b. Baltic Sea cruise, Le Havre to Stockholm. Again, nothing more need be said. c. Charlotte, NC for NASCAR Busch & Nextel Cup series races. NASCAR is terrific and Charlotte is superb but how could it compare with those cruises?
1.My next trip is to Wellfleet, MA on Cape Cod. Our family rents a house every summer there.
2.My husband has been going there for about 30 years.
3.My last three trips were to Wellfleet, London/Wales, Wellfleet. All were great trips . I am just listing them in consecutive order .
Treasure Island, FL
Wanted to check out another island in FL. Going with two other people younger than us, so thought it would be a good location that would make us all happy. (I would have chosen a less commercial-touristy-type place.) I might think differently though after I get back. I loved the natural feel of Sanibel but I wasn't happy with the food choices, portions and prices. I was surprised there weren't neat places directly on the water to dine. I love Apalachicola and St. George Island. I love old Florida!!
Last three:
St. George Island, FL
St. George Island, FL
Sanibel Island, FL
Deb In Michigan
BC to Texas in July. See my post "Bc to Texas with kids-July" if you want to offer any advice.
The trip was originally chosen because we had a family reunion planned in Texas. After we had gotten pumped about the locale, it changed to WA.....we wanted to keep the original travel plans and incorporate WA too....then WA was cancelled! We figure, to heck with all that...we are still sticking with the original plan. Now it looks like we will have a "mini" reunion in Texas after all.
Oppps, I forgot the second part of this topic. Our last 3 trips from Fave to least Fave (I'm going to exclude Vancouver because we go at least once a year)
1.Aneheim and San Diego-love theme parks and warm weather
2.Edmonton-more theme park type action...also some great scenery there and back
3.Washington-scenery and family
Last 3 - Amelia Island, Fl., Birmingham, Black Mt., NC. Next 3 - St. Maarten/Montserrat, Miami, NYC...They'll probably be a trip or two to the Mts. or Beach in there, but they are rarely planned too far ahead.
Next two: Zitacuaro, Michoacan Monarch Butterfly sanctuaries and SFO/China.
Last two: Patzcuaro, Michoacan and Isla/Barra de Navidad, Jalisco.
M (SMdA, Gto.)
Next: Glacier National Park Montana + Waterton because I let my husband choose.
1) Banff to Jasper
2) St. John, USVI
3) Yosemite
- Not counting D.C., my hometown w/family, or the close to home Smokies, lovely but oft visited.
I think it'll be Lake Tahoe ski trip.
Because my son wants to go snowboarding.
My last three were:
Carmel, CA
Austin, TX
Reno, NV
Carmel is always nice. Austin is a neat city, just pretty hot when we were there. Reno can be fun, just not as nice as Lake Tahoe area.
My next trip is to Peru! To see Machu Picchu, hang out in the jungle & cruise Lake Titicaca and get our South America fix!
Last 3:
1. China
2. Yosemite
3. Amsterdam
Next: Australia, later this month.
Why? Well, this will sound stupid, but I've been thinking about Australia for a couple of years, have the guidebooks etc., but what tipped us over was a band that's playing in Melbourne!
Last three (all tied for first)
1. Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Mexico -- incredible beaches and relaxing atmosphere.
2. Copenhagen - Sweden - London - Scotland - Wales - Liverpool. Fantastic trip prompted by friends' wedding, but we went to maybe one or two too many places in a row -- very exhausting. Paul McCartney's and John Lennon's houses in Liverpool were worth it, though!
3. Paris. Nuff said. Greatest city in the world. Our trip was marred only by my embarrassing habit of lapsing into Inspector Clouseau-accented English when my guidebook French failed me....
fnarf999 - I love your "Clouseau" lapse! I did something similar with my very poor German - sooo embarrassing. And, our last trip was to the UK in part to see Ray Davies play. So I understand the band thing, too.
Next trip: Probably England and Ireland later this year, but not definite yet.
Last three trips:
England for a couple of weeks. Wanted to see Ray Davies play (in Manchester). Drove around the countryside and just soaked in the atmosphere. Luckily, my husband's faux English accent stayed in check.
New England: to see family - a new niece and nephew. Grew up here but it was so nice to see it as a tourist.
Cruise: Short cruise from Galveston to Cozumel, before the hurricanes. Was a Carnival cruise, nothing special. Mainly to meet some friends and spend time with them.
Loved reading the answers.
Next trip is to Scottsdale in April. it's been on our list for the last 4-5 years and we are just getting around to it now.
Last 3 trips were Buenos aires in January with a group, but had a lot of free on our own time, Orlando in October(just the 2 of us- big kids at Disney and bought a Sheraton vacation club) and Ocean City Maryland last August with our now mid 20 kids. Each one was different and had their own special good times.
1. Next trip>>> 1 month Kauai
2. Chose us>>>> Award's trip
3. Favorites: Maui,Alaska,Vienna,Lucerne Switzerland....Least...Nevis (too damn hot..even for a Texan)
Next trip: NYC
How chosen: Annual conference I've wanted to attend for several years
Last 3 (best 1st)
1. ATL - drove to Atlanta, GA with sister, mother, grandmother to visit aunt and cousin. Atlanta is beautiful in the spring, and I can't wait to go back. On the road, we stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels with swimming pools, breakfast bars, and nighttime cookies - it was easy to feel like a kid.
2. Chicago - Toulous Latrec (sp?) exhibit at the Art Institute
3. Brat Fest in Stoughton Wisconsin - very strange. Besides a professional and local brat eating contest, the '80s band Night Rider was the big attraction, and yes, they closed with "Sister Christian."
Next trip- Skiing at Whistler, Canada
Last 3 trips-
Oregon Trail (MIssouri to Oregon)
Disneyworld
Hilton Head, SC
Next trip is Gulf Shores in June. We chose this place b/c we try to make our summer vacation a nice beach that is close enough to drive to. DH has a type of time-share that has condos in different resorts in the country, so we are doing the less crowded areas first.
Last three trips--New York (loved it) with some day trips to the mountains, down the Jersey shore; Padre Island which was a great, relaxed family trip with a little time spent in San Antonio and Austin during our drives; and then the Riviera Maya (yummy sun and sea). I loved the Padre trip because that was our first family trip. Great memories!
We go to Atlanta in March to close on our new house, then Ireland for two weeks in May, then Bhutan and India in November - along with two other fodorites. My last three were:
May - Anna Maria Island, Florida (huge fun)
October - Las Vegas (great huge fun)
November - Jordan and Egypt
They were all fabulous trips. I never have a trip I don't enjoy!
1. Kauai

2. My daughter lives there.
3. Last three: Germany, Key West, San Diego
next trip: Palm Springs! Next week!
reason: boyfriend has been there since December (extended vacation between jobs)
last 3 trips: Mayan Riviera, Mexico--beautiful! fun!
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic -- awesome!
Road trip on the Harley to Michigan (bad weather for a week!)
future trip: Europe with my sister to visit family (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) can't wait for that one, but it's about 3 years away still!
Just for fun ...
But the memory of that trip was so priceless, she enjoyed the trip and was able to keep up with us totally!
1. Where is your next trip? Yellowstone National Park!
2. How did you choose? My husband was there when he was 17 years old (that was 25 years ago) and he has been dying to take me and our son there, he said it was so beautiful.
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)? I'm not nearly as well traveled as most of the rest of you, but here goes
1. Walt Disney World two years ago with my 73 year old Mother, she died last month.
2. Williamsburg VA, very pretty place and very interesting if you love history.
3. Holden beach in NC, we rented a very nice house on the beach, each house was fairly far away from the other one so it almost seemed that we had the beach to ourselves!
1. Where is your next trip?
Capitola/Santa Cruz
2. How did you choose?
It will be a trip for my sister, myself and our kids ... husbands may join for a couple days. The kids are 2.5 years, 6 years, and 8 months old. We thought it was a great spot (beach, boardwalk) to have fun with the kids.
3. What were your last 3 (from favorite to least favorite)?
Maui
Las Vegas
Carmel
I loved all of the above trips almost equally. I'll probably get flamed for putting Maui on equal with Vegas LOL. Each destination offers a distinct experience ... that's what I like. We've also been to Australia, Paris, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC, Disneyland, etc.
1. Next trip: Maui
2. How did you chose?
It's our honeymoon trip. We wanted to go somewhere that we could lay on the beach for a while but also be active (hike, kayak, etc.) i usually pick my trips at the bookstore. i love the "time out" travel series so i go a look through a couple then fly to the place that has the best deal. it may be a dumb way to plan a trip, but it works for me!
3. Last 3:
Domestic: New Orleans, Miami, Houston
International: Prague, Stockholm, Buenos Aires
1. Denmark, Norway and Sweden
2. Vikings, fjords, Legoland, castles, etc. that will interest our sons ages 8 and 10
3. Whistler. Disneyworld, and Sea Island
1. Iceland
2. Have never been and its on our list....
3. Buenos Aires, Scottsdale, Vegas
1. Indiana in mid June (If a cousin's wedding counts), otherwise it's Ireland in late August.
Otherwise, for Ireland, we'd heard it was beautiful and wanted to see for ourselves.
2. The wedding was chosen for us.
3. Italy in fall 2005 (Venice, Tuscany, Rome) -- it was our first trip there, and was truly magical.
Aruba in Dec. 2004 -- We loved the food on this island, the people were welcoming and exploring on rental car. The beach was OK, not the best in the Caribbean.
Barbados -- Beach was fabulous, but we liked exploring Aruba more.
next trip - back down to SC.
Last three were SC, Italy, Mexico. SC because I am building a house there, Italy just because, and Mexico on a business trip. I enjoyed them all.
Chicago September 12-16. Amtrak through the Rockies to San Francisco.
1. Next trip: Rental Villa, Turks & Caicos
2. How did we choose: Hubby was stationed on Grand Turk 30 some odd years ago and has been wanting to go back.
3. Last 3 from favorite to least:
Maui, Mayan Riviera, Cruise of
Southern Carribean.
1. Ten days spent driving around New York, Quebec and the New England Coast.
2. Never been to Montreal (on "the list")and it's been over twenty years for NYC. Love the NE coast and trying some new places this time.
3. Fave: Oktoberfest/Prague/Vienna/Budapest
Second: New Orleans and Western Carribbean cruise (glad I got back to NO shortly pre-Katrina but Carnival isn't so great)
Third: Puerto Vallarta (gorgeous weather but no I don't want to buy a timeshare!)
My next trip is NYC, again (I also went in late June) and then to my house in SC again over Labor Day. we are also going to Albuquerque NM to see the Balloon Fiesta!
1. Turks and Caicos in Novemer
2. Had to use airline miles up and I have never been to Caribbean. I can't wait!!
3. Florida, DC, NYC
Next trip: Paris and Provence next month. Chose it because we wanted to see Paris again (third time), and we've never been to Provence---just to the south of France.
Last 3 trips:
1. Walking tour through Tuscany
2. Tour of eastern Europe
3. Med. cruise (greek islands)
Wilmington N.C.
Why: hitting the beach for a few days stopping on the way home to pick up our new bloodhound puppy outside of Charlotte. We still need a name.
1. Tetons-www.christinthetetons.com (check it out)2.Northern Wisconsin 3.Charleston S.C.
Las Vegas in Aug. Good deal at Bally's.
San Francisco in Oct. Haven't been there in a long time.
Maui in Dec. to celebrate our 25th anniversary.
Last trip Las Vegas.
Maui before that.
I'd answered in 2004, but I keep seeing this rise to the top, so why not update?
Next trip: Long weekend to Mexico City in early Sept. Spontaneous trip to decompress, bought the tix sort of spur the moment. Too long to our next "big" trip in March, which will be 3 weeks in Morocco & southern Spain.
Last 3:
- Hungary and Romania
- New York City
- Thailand and Cambodia (the latter being my new fav place)
1. Next trip - Andorra for skiing
2. My ski club is running the trip & I usually go on their European ski trips.
3. Last three - Favorite Cortina, Italy skiing, Second favorite - Taos, NM skiing, finally Engelberg, CH.
Fun question - here goes
1) Next trip is a weekend in Chicago in September for our 25th Anniversary and DH's 50th birthday. I plan on hitting the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planitarium - 'cause it's for HIS birthday and he LOVES that stuff.
2) Because we can drive and we're pretty broke from a trip earlier this year. Oh, and it's a surprise. He knows we're going somewhere, he just doesn't know where.
3) Last 3 trips -
Japan! It was an incredible trip. For two weeks in March we hit Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima. For me it really was the trip of a lifetime (so far). I would love to go back some time, but then there are so many other places I'd love to visit.
Costa Rica in February 2004. I had thought that was going to be the trip of a lifetime. The Ticos are so friendly and the country is soooo beautiful. Plus fantastic coffee everywhere.
Santa Fe. I had never been to the southwest and I loved it. The trip was somewhat surreal because we flew out on September18, 2001 - one day after flights resumed in the US. They were just starting to search bags (and everyone kept apologizing!) and every flight was less than half full. Everyone was still in that weird zone where you got into intense conversations with perfect strangers.
Anyways, that was beautiful too.
1. Vegas
2. Good place to spend Thanksgiving.
3. The following start with the most recent and go back - I can't ever choose a "favorite" among trips!
-New Zealand (beautiful in Mar/Apr, 2 weeks is too little time)
-Yellowstone (wolf viewing and snowmobiling in January)
-Costa Rica (eco-luxury, rainforests, turtles)
1. St. Martin..cannot wait to go back
2. I like mountains.
3. St. Martin (always fun..great weather..fabulous food) Norway ( scenery is wonderful) Alps of Switzerland and Austria ( nice scenery, so so food, hot , no ac)
