Where is one of California's major cities, San Jose?
I live around San Jose and know first-hand that this city has a lot to offer, so I am deeply disappointed that this traveling website does not have any reviews on it at all. In fact there isn't even a link on the city. I would highly recommend Fodor's to look into this city. =)

Well, why don't you review it. This is just a blog site really made up of members just like you.
My personal favorite thing, in my two short visits there, would be- Falafel's Drive In.
I must say the airport is very nice. If you like Whole Foods grocer stores, it has one of the largest in the nation.

Frequently confused with the capital of Costa Rica(same name)
Tour de Silicon Valley is fun there but otherwise not
the most touristic of places... probably hundreds more
interesting places in CA...

"I have vague memory of someone on these boards years ago who used to tell people to skip San Francisco and go to San Jose instead. Anyone else remember that?"
Oh yeah !!
He was one busy little bee, that's for sure. Every single question about Northern CA - he jumped on before anyone else had a chance and steered them to beautiful downtown SJ. Even as a base for visiting SF, Napa, Yosemite . . . wherever.

With all due respect to how San Jose has grown - it's still - "down the peninsula" - from San Francisco. Actually - parts of Palo Alto and Los Altos, Saragota, etc - are much nicer IMO than downtown San Jose.

If you are visiting relatives in San Jose, or going to a conference there, you can pull together a fun slate of touristic activities, but it's not a worthy travel destination in itself, in my opinion.

You are incorrect that there in no link here to San Jose. In doing a search of this forum I found eight posts with San Jose, California, in the subject line.
Perhaps you are searching for a site such as this: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/sanjoseca/

I agree. San Jose does deserves a write up. True it is not a top tourist destination but it is a top business destination and business people still want to know what to do and where to eat. And there are some cool things to do in San Jose. Everything from topless Vietnamese coffee bars to the Tech Museum.
I am new to Fodors and I can understand that they use their web site to sell books first and they prob don;t have a SJ book.
I was over at trip advisory for several years but it turned into political debate in every post and just too much poor advice mixed with too little good advice.
Honestly I'm not certain Fodor's is doing it for me.
If you haven't discovered Wikitravel.org, check it out. If WikiTravel had forums it would be the best travel site in the world.

I remember that poster too
I live in SJ, and I love living here. Yes, there are some interesting things to do and see - BUT - whenever people visit from out of town, we don't really take them sightseeing in SJ.
