What ya up to?
What's your poison?

At home hanging out on the computer, clearly. But planning a trip, even though it's just a little one. I live near Boston and make a couple of trips to NYC each year just to hang out there and pick up the vibes. Looks like I'll go in about a week; we'll see how the weather reports look.

Hi BayouGal.

What am I up to? Well, I'm trying to sort through a desk full of papers. Not doing a very good job though. No poison, that would only make matters worse, lol.

What's new? New job learning curve is a bit stressful and exciting at the same time.

How am I? Tired. I need a vacation!! I spent my entire summer job searching. Now I don't want to complain since my DH and I had a great time in Europe but the rest of my summer kind of was a bummer. Didn't clean out the garage like I wanted to.

I'd feel better if I had a piece of chocolate cake.

Sitting in front of the computer planning a trip to San Francisco in Jan. Oh yeah, eating popcorn and drinking a glass of red wine.

Well, good evening friends! Welcome.

New jobs are so tough those first few weeks, STW. Hang in there, girl!

Speaking of eating cake, anyone have an opinion on the new Marie Antoinette movie opening Oct 20?

Well, I'm also sitting in front of a computer, asking a question about San Francisco. Going there next week. Been about 5 times for work but never tire of it. However, I was amazed to see that you can take BART from the airport into the city. Never knew! Before this, I was trying to get cheap car rental in Denver and SF - ouch, it's really expensive during the week! Or maybe it's because I waited so late to book - rare for me, but I've been really busy recently, both at work and at play. Even Priceline turned me down. Also, there aren't that many non-stop flights to SF from Baltimore anymore - travel is getting harder and harder!
Anyway, I'm in Maryland (Silver Spring, MD, outside DC). Not much into poisons (real stick in the mud), but I'm doin' fine!

Roothy123, it looks like you might have gotten some help on your thread. I see it's back up to the top. BART didn't run all the way to the airport the last time we were there, but that was almost 3 years ago, I think.

Has anyone seen any good movies or read any good books lately?

I am taking a few books on our trip with me. One for DH and I to read together each night, one for the flights, and of course, the guide books.

Hi, Y'all

I'm watching the US Open, eating dinner and trying to get the energy to set up for a little morning party here...but obviously Fodors is more interesting...and takes WAY less energy...

Yes, BART to the city is fairly recent. You really don't need to rent a car now.

Have a good Sunday everyone....

Hi,
I'm delaying the imposing "bath time" for my three little ones. It is finally nice enough for them to play outside...not so hot anymore. The NASCAR race is playing on the TV in the background although no one is watching. My poison...Diet Cherry Coke. I'm good, thanks for asking.

OK. I hope some of you have seen the commercial for "I feel pretty" commercial for Nike - with Sharapova. It is one of the best ads I have ever seen! Especially given the moment.

Howdy BG and all !
I just came in from the yard where I have spent 4 weekends hand building a rock wall for the front of a raised bed.
It's a "L" shape 16'x 10'x 18"-20" high.

The most maddening thing were the leaks
that had to be plugged with quikrete
and pebbles. Every time I was sure I gotten to all the leaks, I'd go about watering the bed and Mr. R5 would yell from the upper deck, "Thar she blows !" I won't repeat here what I felt like yelling,
LOL !

I am here to report that this evening's water test was a leak free success
YA-HOO !!
-now I can continue laying the
pavers for the rest of the patio.

I will shortly be in a hot tub with
a glass of Lambert Bridge sauvignon blanc-which I picked up Wednesday at the winery. It is really gorgeous
Sonoma County now-y'all come one by!

I love the 'I feel pretty' ad!

Poison tonight was a diet Pepsi followed by a cup of piping hot Lemon Zinger tea. Whew, it's a wild evening for sure.

I cleaned out kitchen cabinets all day long (while watching football). It's been too long since I've had time to be domestic so this was relaxing and enjoyable. In the dish towel drawer, I found some long buried bibs (our youngest is 14--LOL) and in another drawer some no-longer-used sippy cups. Good memories there

It's been a nice, relaxing day.

Well, it's quite late here in PA. I'm surfing on the laptop in bed; DH just finished watching the Nascar race, and I kept him company but had the computer to entertain me.

My poison is a glass of skim milk with ice. It went really well with the carmel and almond bundt cake I baked yesterday.

There isn't much new. We did yard work all day, and relaxed through the evening. DH's job is under threat, so I'm glad that nothing is new! New might not be good...

How am I? A little worried, and maybe a little anxious, but not too bad, thanks. I've just come out of a flare up of chronic illness, and it is a joy to be feeling better. I walked the dog with my DH for the last two nights. That's after about 3 weeks, so I'm over the moon with that change!

And how are you?

i'm in bed surfing on the laptop too. i like to do this before sleep, but i've been too busy for weeks to visit fodor's....how i miss it!

my illness that kept me from attending my brother's wedding in california was finally diagnosed, once back home, as ehrlichiosis -- the ehrlichia bacteria carried by ticks which often mimics rocky mountain spotted fever. at least i'm cured, and all done with that!

i'm gleefully trying to decide where to go for thanksgiving. my two children, 11 and 15, will be with their dad, so i'm free to grab my sister and take off for a few days. i could:
1) fly into austin, texas to visit my favorite aunt, push on into hill country to visit my dad at his ranch and try to catch a quick visit with cousins in san antonio
2) stay in my own back yard (geographically speaking), meeting my mother and sister at a nice new england country inn with a good restaurant, do a little hiking weather permitting
3) just save the money to put toward christmas travel. my mother and aunt are going to italy. it sure would be nice to join them with children in tow. don't know if i'll be able to afford it. and, the clock is tick, tick, ticking regarding booking something.
4) or just go home to cape elizabeth, maine where mother and sister still live. we could make lobster bisque instead of that old turkey!

anybody have opinions?
