Where can we find "pick your own" near Dallas?

I am now in Richardson, North of Dallas. We want to find a place where we can enjoy "Pick My Own". We prefer to pick cherries, peach, berries or other fruits.

I am very appriciated if you can help me.

Thank you very much!

I dunno if you'll have any luck at all. We lived in Plano for years and I don't think those things grow anywhere near there.

My state has a "Farm to Market Bulletin" (print and online) as well as a state organics group with lists. I'd check to see if TX has the equivalent of either of those.

Cherries, peaches, and berries grow in Michigan, and the northern states, not Texas. I don't know what kinds of fruits grow in Texas ... avocados? citrus?

Peaches and certain berries do indeed grow in Texas - and quite well. I can't tell you where to find them in the immediate Dallas area, but Freestone County (thus the name Freestone Peaches), just south of Dallas, is home to some excellent orchards. There are other areas as well (such as Fredericksburg) but Freestone is the closest place I know near Dallas.

Using the map starrs provided I've found a place in Arlington (between Dallas and Fort Worth) and a place in Terrell (east of Dallas off I-20).

For blackberries, look here:

This is in Sanger, straight up Hwy 35 about 10 mi. past Denton.

Thanks starrs, elburr and sandy_b for the links. I'm constantly amazed about the things I learn on Fodors.
