When to Book U.S .To EUR Plane Tickets?
Hello,
Well my fodor friends. You have helped me nail down my itinerary. Now I need to book my flights from SFO-->Paris CDG --> Florence Italy --> back to SFO. I am seeing on most travel sites about 1300 Total per passenger including taxes. Trip is in October. Should I wait to book in the chance of fares getting cheaper or should I snag the tickets a number of months ahead of time at this price?
Thanks

That's too high for October, especially if it's after October 15 which is the usual start of low-low season.
You should book SFO to CDG and return Florence to SFO. Then book Paris to Florence separately on an internal carrier. Although, Florence is an expensive city to fly in and out of...Milan has much better fares.
I would look for fares of $800 for the round trip and $100 for the internal.

Keep searching and searching. I would grap anything under $1000. Then, if nothing has turned up by the end of June, I would probably settle for the best deal I had found.
Keep in mind that the greater the number of carriers that fly out of SFO, the greater the number of options available to you.

I would keep looking as that price seems extremely high for that time of year. Keep checking various sites so you have good idea of what the prices are running and then when you find that really good price you will know it and buy it quickly. After you buy the ticket stop looking because it is a done deal and if you keep looking and find a lower price you will be full of angst. I usually buy tickets to Europe for the following fall sometimie between December and March and find good deals. Around March the prices seem to start climbing and then start falling again in mid to late summer but never seem to get back down to where they were between December and March. Keep looking and good luck.
