What's Your Poison & Where Are You Traveling to Next?

I know it is a bit early for poison in the US, but it is definitely poison time here in magical Venezia, Italia at 8 p.m. DH and I were just strolling down Strada Nova in Cannaregio and as we passed this net cafe I fondly thought of my Fodorite friends. So, I figured I would post a hello and see where everyone is traveling to next.

My poison this evening is Prosecco, and I plan to have a Limoncello later after dinner. And, of course I started my late afternoon with a Caffe Coretto with Grappa after an awe inspiring couple of hours viewing Tintoretto's masterpieces at Scoula San Rocco.

So, what is your poison for this evening and where are you traveling to next? For me, it will be St. Maarten and home via Paris early Sunday morning.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Oh Statia! How fabulous!

My poison will be Pinot Grigio in a couple of hours (my first Friday night drink in MONTHS!) while I pack for NYC!

I hope you have a fabulous time and I'm so jealous!

Ciao!

Hi, Statia, how good to hear from you!! For now my poison is water, since it's only 1:10pm in Texas.

Unfortunately I am unable to make travel plans at this time due to my job ending next year. However, I will name a few places I will visit when I get a new job and have some vacation time. I would like to visit Savannah, GA over a long weekend. For a longer trip, I would like to go to both Egypt and Thailand. (not on the same trip, of course!!)

Have a lovely time in Venice!!

Just water, so far, for me today, the parents are on their way and expected any minute!

We're planning alittle trip to Baton Rouge, LA to see a long time, dear friend and attend her 1st sons' wedding in a few weeks. I'm afraid that's all for now

There are NO hotel rooms available(due to Katrina), so she's putting us up at her home.
She has been to London and I to Maui and Oahu since we have seen each other, so we will have plenty to talk about!

Have a good weekend and, Statia, I'm like everyone else, anxiously awaiting your TR!

Belle

My poison this whole weekend will be a challenge to find a bottle of wine! Last time my older son and his girlfriend were here we opened a bottle of red Hungarian wine "bulls eye" or "bulls blood" don't remember for sure. Went to the same store - sold out. He had no luck finding it!

Can you beleive it's difficult to buy a bottle of wine in San Francisco

And thank you for asking about the next trip. No travels for me till March, and then... ISRAEL!! I am excited already! Too early to book a tour... never to early for a search and reading!

Drinking a can of "Rockstar" (energy drink)at the moment to get me through the afternoon and looking forward to wine with dinner especially as I don't have to cook tonight!

Looking forward to our trip to Hawaii next month and the Bahamas in January... not looking forward to another winter in Massachusetts! Hmmm, I wonder if you'd like to house swap with me Statia??

Enjoy Venice!

Hey Statia,
Buona sera to you tonight in bella Italia!
What a nice surprise to see you! We were already formulating a plan just in case we had to carry on without you!

My poison right now is hot tea.

My next travel destinations are to Santa Monica to see some of my long time girlfriends and to attend an Art Festival with them.
&
And then next with my darling, handsome hubby to Florence and Venice. Save some Limoncello for us, ok?

Hugs to you, enjoy your journey!

To toast your being in Venezia, Statia, my wife and I are taking some kids to Spaghetti Factory tonight. Yeah... poor substitute, I know. We'll be drinking the best from the wine list, most likely a $10 bottle of "Chianti".

Next trip? Bandon Dunes, in just a little over a week.

I've always thought these threads were so much fun to read, but never participated.

Right now my poison as water as the rest of the afternoon in my cubie slowly goes by. Then tonight it will either be Black Velvet and Diet 7-up(thanks Dad) or a few glasses of Shiraz or maybe even Pinot Noir. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

As for travels, unfortunately we don't have anything planned. We'll probably be going to Hudson around Christmastime for a weekend and hope to get to Burlington in Feb. for the Magic Hat Mardi Gras. But, we do have a wedding to pay for and are trying to save for a house so travel plans are on hold. Guess we should devote that energy to deciding on a honeymoon destination. I'm liking the idea of taking a few days after the wedding for a small trip and then the big honeymoon a little later.

Statia--I'm so jealous!!

Just put on some cider to mull and later we'll have a bit with just a "splash" of rum. Perhaps a nice red wine with dinner (pot roast).

I love Prosecco and I may just trade my red for some. In fact I have a bottle chilling in the frig right now. Oh, decisions, decisions.

I am traveling to Florida the last week of December. Then a yet to be decided vacation in the Caribbean in March. We've just begun planning a possible trip to the South of France in May.

Have a great weekend.

Hey Statia, Prosecco sounds pretty good to me...I think we have some Chardonnay we need to finish off, but I'm still a couple of hours away. To the NC Mts. in a couple of weeks for a long weekend for some hiking w/the kids & spouse. Enjoy !! Ciao !!

My poison is red wine, and I will be sipping some in just a couple hours.

Technically, my next destination is Maine next weekend. But my next "real" trip is Costa Rica in December.

Probably one or more of the cans of Tecate sitting on a shelf next to the BBQ in the back yard (okay refrigerator this time of year) to go with the Pollo con Naranjas (chicken with oranges) that I'm going to prepare for my sweetie tonight.

Next travels are (likely) a weekend in NYC/Phil after Thanksgiving, then LA for New Years, then finishing up our current RTW (and, hopefully, starting the next one) in London, Israel and Turkey in March.

Unless I decide that attaining Executive Platinum status with American Airlines is worth going on a serious "mileage run" in order to accumulate an additional 20,000 miles before the end of the year. There are benefits, but that's an awful lot of "butt in seat" hours. I think the chances are low, but... Don't tell her.

Hi Statia! Thanks for taking time out from Venetian splendor to think of us and Friday night poison!

Not sure what tonight's poison will be, but tomorrow's is defitely Hurricanes at our N'Awlins style Halloween Party. The frozen drink machine gets delivered tomorrow afternoon.

Next trip in the works is 2 weeks in St. John at the end of May. The only place on Earth where my DH stops & relaxes.

Between you (Fodorites) and me, I'm hoping for another trip in there somewhere before then! Suggestions? Trish

My poison this evening will be finishing off the bottle of pinot noir I opened last night...and possibly one of my (first ever) homebrewed oatmeal stouts for dessert.

Me next trip is next weekend...in honor of hubby's bday, we'll be heading to the frozen tundra of Lambeau field for a Packers game!

My next adventure will be in your current destination...magical Venezia in less than one month. Enjoy - and looking forward to reading your trip report upon your safe return home!

Chape store brand seltzer, as I have another few hrs. to work. Then some kind of red wine, I am I the mood for something good and forget the price.

Sedona for a week btwn Christmas and New Years. We have rented a house w/hot tub under the stars there. Will celebrate my son's 14th birthday with an overnight to the GC and dinner at El Tovar. Lots of hiking and fun stuff planned for that week.

Also planning two weeks in Japan in April w/my 13 yr old daughter. Tokyo, Nikko, Disney Sea, Hakone, Kyoto, Takamatsu on the island of Shikoku in the Inalnd Sea. We will combine fun, art/scupture (she is a budding artist) and doing some traditional crafts along w/being tourists. Really looking forward to that one. I am taking a Japanese for travelers class.

I am looking forward to helping P_M plan her trip to Japan in the future!!

Statia, raise your glass for us there!

Hope you're enjoying Venice, Statia. Wish I was there right now, although it is beautiful in Chicago today.

Prosecco sounds awfully good; I just threw a bottle in the refrigerator for later!

Our next travels are both trips to see family for the holidays -- Amelia Island for Thanksgiving and Lake Jackson, TX for Christmas. The next vacation trip will be two weeks in the south of France in June (Languedoc, Dordogne and Provence). We've just finished booking air and accommodations; now, if only it wasn't still eight months away....

Poison - none, iced tea perhaps! Not shaken, but stirred. Am going to see the King Tut exhibit in La in 2 weeks. Can't wait, closest we'll be getting to Egypt any time soon. Will be there all day I hope!

Love to read where everybody's traveling to

Greetings Statia--so happy you're enjoying yourself in Venezia! We were scheduled to be in Italy at this time, too, but decided to postpone our trip due to our cat's failing health. Looking forward to reading your trip report!

This afternoon's poison is a grande spiced pumpkin coffee from Starbucks--woo hoo, do I feel fired up. I'm hoping to accompany DH to D.C. in December for a few days. If all goes well I'll be going to Maryland between Christmas and New Years to see my family. Given the cat's situation we're playing everything by ear for now.

Happy travels! AnnMarie
