What's your favorite Maui beach?

We love Ke'e on Kauai, Kailua and Lanikai on the east side of Oahu, Sunset and Waimea on the north shore of Oahu. We'll be staying on Kaanapali. Which other beaches are "must see"?

Agree - Maui has many many beautiful beaches - and it really depends on what you like and the conditions at that beach at the time you visit it.

For close to where you are staying - the Black Rock - by the "old" Sheraton is great for snorkeling - and further north - there are nice beaches at Kapalua and Napili and also - Schaeffer park is it? - and then perhaps the best snorkeling of all at Honolu'a Bay - but you have to work a little to get to it.

see this page for more info: http://www.maui-vacation.net/snorkelmap.html

Here is another web page for Maui State Parks.

And it's Fleming that I am thinking of, http://www.hawaiigaga.com/maui/beach...each-park.aspx just north of Kapalua. Locals like it for surfing, and hanging out in the parking lot afterwards - smoking those funny cigarettes. But they have always been friendly to moi.

Maluaka Beach in Makena. It is the beach that fronts the Makena Beach Resort.

Poolenalena Beach in Wailea/Makena.

Keawakapu Beach in Kihei.

And - for a fun place - and also seeing Kiehei (down south) - try snorkeling at La Perouse bay at the very south end.

We had a blast there and some local guys shot two big Ulua (about 20 lbs each) http://www.hawaiibeachcombers.com/ulua.html - and were going to have a great party/luau that night.

And if you are not experienced snorkelers - try the equipment on at the pool to get it right. You don't want loose ends of hair hanging down your forehead under the mask - as they let beads of water onto the glass of the mask.

Check Snorkel Bob's for equipment rental - http://www.snorkelbob.com/cgi-local/....htm?E+scstore and there are other companies too. The tourist mags at the airport may have some coupon specials.
