I'm heading to Chicago today! 
I checked the weather report and it says it will be partly sunny and around low 60's/high 50's. To me, that is not that cold but other people I know are freaking me out by asking if I was bringing thermal underwear and all of this total below freezing gear. ?? Am I missing something?? Someone said the wind factor will make it seem way colder. So I would like to know, from people in Chicago right now, what is the weather like? Do I need thermal underwear? I am bringing a down jacket, gloves, scarves, etc. But nothing like ear warmers or moon boots.
Any help would be appreciated!

When are you talking about? I mean, what hour or what minute?
I spent five nights in Chicago last weekend. It may seem warm one minute; go around the corner and it feels 20 degrees colder, depending on being in sun or shade and the wind factor. One day I was bundled with gloves and knit hat over my ears, and the next day I was out by the lake in short sleeves.
Be ready for anything. Hey, it's Chicago!
It is a bit more bustery that 60 sounds like, but I certainly don't think moon boots are necessary, as no blizzard is predicted.
If you don't like the weather in Chicago, wait a minute and it will change. The wind will definitely make it cooler.
It's windy. This weekend is supposed to be 10 degrees warmer than normal. And this entire year has been colder and wetter than usual- so a nice Fall weather weekend will be welcome.
I had on a leather coat today- jacket style- not long and after a brisk 20 minute walk- I wanted to head back inside.
It is NOT supposed to rain. For Chicago area, the weather is doable for visitors.
