We will be visiting family in Prescott, and the only day we have for a little sightseeing is next Friday. My daughter really wants to show her boyfriend Sedona, and having done the slide at Oak Creek many years ago, she wants to share that with him too. Any tips on what kind of traffic to expect or any planning tips? Thanks.
What's the best strategy for a day trip to Sedona?

Prescott is so close to Sedona that traffic won't really be a big deal but Slide Rock will be busy, it always is. Going on a Friday is still better than a weekend.
summer at Slide Rock is the real monkey wrench..
Friday will be WAY better than the weekend..tell her to hit the road by 8am and have breakfast at the Coffee Pot in Sedona and then by 11am, they can be having fun at Slide Rock..
Thanks. She has an itinerary (she's such a planner!) that includes a couple of hikes (airport road & a shorter one I think) in the morning, and I think she is hitting Slide Rock after 3PM. That's probably not as good as first thing in the morning but she read that it is the busiest between 11 & 3. Thanks for the comments.
We'll be in Sedona in early August and I have really got to stop listening to the satellite weather station in my car, as they are predicting 115 degrees during the day and 90 at night for Phoenix! Even if it's the supposedly 20 degrees cooler in Sedona, I can only imagine how busy Slide Rock will be!
Another alternative would be to take a jeep tour, but it would be more expensive.
