What's Open in Naples Florida?

Hi.

We will be arriving in Naples on Jan. 1st and wondering what will be open that day?
More specifically, Publix? etc. Also, will most restaurants be open?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Pretty sure Publix is open. It's Bowl Day, so places have to be open, don't they? I know that I've gone to my favorite -- Wynn's Market on New Years Day.
And most restaurants are open, but tend to be quiet. I just called to confirm that the Chops, Chops II, Pazzo, Yabba, and their new Blue Water Grill will all be open on Jan. 1.

Thanks NeoPatrick for your reply. We too love Wynn's market, never thought they would be open on New Year's Day.

Also, thank you for taking the trouble to make those phone calls. Where is the Blue Water Grill?

We are heading down from Canada for 3 months and looking forward to the Naples sunshine.

Actually one phone call as they are all the same owners. Blue Water Grill is just about to open at Coconut Point up by the Hyatt.

You won't recognize Wynn's. They're going through a major transformation both inside and out. This is the big one on 9th, you know they closed the little one on Fifth Ave?

I can't recall seeing the one one Fifth when we were there last winter. Was it open then?

We have only gone to the one on 9th and really loved it. It's such a handy spot to pick up meals etc, on the way back from the beach.

Are they expanding it? or just renovating?

The original Wynn's Family Market was on Fifth. A couple of years ago, they changed it to a small carry out place with sandwiches, deli, etc. But about a year ago -- maybe a little longer -- they closed that one.
The one on the Trail has been slightly expanded, but mainly remodeled. They are trying to compete with the Fresh Market, etc. image. Unfortunately for those of us who shop there almost exclusively, we're now missing larger sizes of some things and a full variety of some staples. But the wines, meats, and the seafood (run by Captain Jerry's) remain absolutely top notch. And they have greatly increased the variety of deli and prepared foods.

Thanks for your info. Happy to hear that they are expanding the deli & prepared foods. I have heard about Fresh Market but hadn't tried it as the location is not as convenient as Wynn's.

Wish we had something comparable back home.
