What's New on the SF Dining Scene
It's been a couple years since we were in SF. Looking for a restaurant rec that could be Italian, sushi, or American, We're open to other suggestions. We're looking for moderate price, ~$150 for 2 people. Suggestions?

Our favorite restaurant in The City now is Nico - way out on Sacramento. We dined at Contigo on Castro in the Noe Valley this past Sat & loved it. Try the sampler tapas. We're dining at Skool this coming Sat.

Incanto closed a long time ago. They "converted" it to a casual "sandwich" place - but that was a big nothing. The space is still vacant.
We dined at Cockscomb - but thought it was not as good as Incanto and certainly more expensive. They serve a whole pig "section" with the head still attached. Ellen fainted at the sight. It got a lot of press when it first opened - but that died down, and it did not make the "top 100 restaurants" list, recently released by the Chron.

I like all of gailscout's suggestions, except I don't know La Urbana.
Stu, wasn't Pomelo one of your favorites? And Betelnut closed AGAIN?
Debit, Cockscomb's raison d'etre when it first opened was "organs" - I see the menu is more varied now, but I was so put off, I've never been (I live a block away).

Kin Khao - upscale Thai
Outerlands - you will need to Uber but it is excellent and very San Francisco
Californios - Upscale, innovative Mexican (have not been to Cala but have heard from friends it's great)
Al's Place - veggie focused, modern cuisine
Don't care for La Urbana. I like Nico but it doesn't feel new or special to me. Rich Table is still worth a visit. So is 20th Century Cafe, across the street, for the honey cake! So so good.

Went to Trestle last night on Jackson/Columbus. Prix fix for $35 - 3 courses. Advance reservations required. 3 courses and 2 choices for each. 2 pasta selections for $10 each, if desired to add. Portions were of good size, food a bit rich but delicious.
