What to wear in new York in September?

Jump to last reply

We arrive in NY in late September to spend a week and you can imagine we are looking forward to our stay. We will be docking after a cruise on the new Carnival Legend. This is only relevant as for a 15 night cruise we will have plenty of clothes...for the day I will have casual trousers and tops with me plus trainers and other walking shoes.

We are staying at the Hilton(Avenue of the Americas) So is it accepted to wear very casual clothes to hit the streets of New York? Here in London, anything goes during the day and I generally wear my Levis and trainers to shop in Oxford Street. Will I be out of place wearing such clothes in New York?

I know I can rely on the experts here... I would not be staying at the Hilton for £75 a night for our room if it had not been for people here teaching me about Bidding for travel and Priceline!
This is one formidable site!
