Am going to be in Maui for 5 days and Honolulu for 2 days in February. What is proper attire for the average tourist? What does one wear to a luau?

casual dress....aloha wear. comfortable and colorful. Cottons, rayons, linens, silks. leave your black attire at home. sandals and rubber thongs. plenty of places to buy t-shirts, jams and great hawaiian shirts.

I always wear a sundress to the luau and to dinner most nights. They are very casual on the islands and there aren't many restaurants where you can't wear shorts to dinner.

iM Having a tough time shopping in the North East for the Hawaiian weather. Anyone have suggestions on what todo?

There are a number of places online that sell Hawaiian shirts, etc. Do a search on google.com. The Tommy Bahama line is quite nice, tho' a little pricey.

Don't mess with it from home, just buy when you get there, and you won't need a lot anyway.

You can shop when you get to Maui. Even Walmart has OK tropical clothes!
