What to in 3 1/2 days in Seattle?
My husband and I are spending our first wedding anniversary in Seattle this weekend. Any suggestions on what to do in a short amount of time and the must-sees? We already have lodging and have rented a car. Please advise.

Forecast is for wet - what sort of (indoor) things do you like to do?
Check out seattleweekly.com or thestranger.com for events, music, etc.
Hit the Pike Market - still some good flowers and other attractive produce on display. Take a ferry ride to Bainbridge - good even in the rain. See the new library, various museums, or go gallery strolling. Or head up to Snoqualmie Falls (only if it is wet - good sightseeing plus it's a good fall color year so far.

We were just there in June for our anninversary. Our favorite site was across the sound past Squim and up the moutain at Hurricane Ridge. I felt like I was in the Swiss Alps. It was beautiful.
We also hot the Hoh Rainforest. Pretty and unique... quite a drive. We also went to a fantastic beach called Rialto Beach. Took TONS of pictures there.
We ate at two really good restraunts in seattle:
The Brooklyn (great fish and steak)
The Georgian @ the Fairmont
Both had wonderful menus and awesome food! The Georgian even did a special dessert to celebrate our Anniversary.
Have fun!

Thank you both for the responses. We like museums, especially art- any recommendations on which ones?
Any cool places to see live music? Any great local acts we should check out?
Thanks for the help.

Seattle Art Museum just closed the Van Gogh exhibit and will be opening a new exhibit Spain in the Age of Exploration on Oct. 16. The regular collection will be there, but looks like you'll miss the special exhibits. There's also an Asian Museum at Volunteer Park and the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington campus, which is lovely (but hard to park, especially if there's a football game--check first) and the nearby Arboredum is beautiful to wall through with its Japanese Garden (if it's not raining--it's sunny right now, but anything can happen weather-wise here.)
Happy anniversary.
Happy anniversary.

Why not check out the local wineries? We have so many great ones, small and large...

There are really some fabulous and romantic restaurants in seattle. The one's getting the most press right now are Union, Lark, Lola, Cascadia and Le Pichet. But let me tell you .....there are so many!! And if it's your anniversary you might want to check out the oysters at the brooklyn!
Check out ticketmaster for Seattle events, we have great theater (the ACT is right downtown), music (Benaroya Hall is amazing and hosts symphany, other music, lectures, etc), and musicals....
Go shopping at Pacific Place, great boutiques on 1st (Kennedy Watson on 1st and Spring is great if you like cool French stuff and the like for your home), art galleries in the Pioneer Square area, etc.
Happy Anniversary!! My dh and I just celebrated our fist too...in San Fran.

If you want a splurge for your celebration, check out the Herbfarm in Woodinville. www.herbfarm.com
We almost flew to Seattle to celebrate a birthday last month, but chose the Carmel/Big Sur area with a dinner at Sierra Mar instead. ***kim***

The Frye is a lovely smaller art museum just across I-5 from the main downtown area. It even has its own, free parking lot. It's a nice place for lunch, also. Here's their website:

Kim, the Herbfarm is wonderful but are you aware that reservations are taken and filled months in advance? If you want to try it next time you are in town you should start contacting them very early on. You can do it online too.

I don't think the Herbfarm is currently worth the money or the wait, but YMMV. There are lots of good, cutting edge places in Seattle now, especially for the under-50 demographic. Visit the PNW board on chowhound.com for the latest foodie reviews.

Kim, I've been to Rovers and it is well worth the money IMO. The food and service is fantastic but the presentation is very close to that you would get at a michilan starred restaurant.
I know how you like the Tom Douglas restaurants! You'll be happy to know that Tom and Thierry (Rovers) are getting together and hosting a dinner of Julia Childs menu items in honor of the late great chef.
Rover's also just started serving both Friday lunches and also some al a carte items. Before that it had always been just 5 or 8 course tasting menus.

I concur with the suggestion about the Frye Museum--it's a little gem.
Check to see if there is anything of interest to you playing at Jazz Alley or The Triple Door--two elegant music venues.
I would also check to see if you are interested in what's playing a the UW World of Dance, Seattle Repertory Theater, Intiman Theater, ACT Theatre, On the Boards, Seattle Symphony, and our other excellent arts organizations.
We also have a great zoo with beautifully planted grounds--Woodland Park Zoo. My out-of-town friends are always surprised how enjoyable the place is.
If you attend an event at Seattle Center, consider diner at Kaspar's. Kaspar has maintained a high standard for many years.

Eat at Ray's Boathouse (#1 Seafood in Seattle). Go to www.citysearch.com . Do something different, check out www.ridetheducksofseattle.com . They are a great way to see a lot of Seattle and fun as well. Heading up (from Portland, OR) there to watch the Seahawks this weekend, myself.
