What to do in San Diego

Hi! I am 15 years old and I am going with my mum to San Diego for a wedding in July. We have a few days before and after the wedding, and we might go to LA too. Any recommendations on what to do and where to go both in San Diego and LA? Anything from a place to eat to things to visit is helpful! Thanks!

What do you all like? What price do you normally pay when eating out?

San Diego is a large city, it has all sorts of options.

In San Diego "Old Town" is fun:

and of course the Zoo:

In Los Angeles my favorite things are some of the old-timey ones like: the Hollywood sign, the Walk of the Stars, The Farmer's Market/the Grove, Olvera Street, Chinatown, Griffith Park, La Brea Tar Pits

LA- the Grove has some cool shopping, Nordstrom, Lucky brand, Michael Kors, Sephora. It also has giant and delicious pancakes at Dupars. There are also a lot of food choices in the adjacent farmers market as well as Morels , Cheesecake Factory etc.
The area near Hollywood and Highland has more shopping , the Dolby Theater ( maybe you'll catch a red carpet premier in progress or some other event) , Chinese Theater and Walk of Fame, very touristy but fun. There is also a great gelato place, Grom.
Universal studios can also be a fun day. Maybe you can get tickets to something at the Greek theater near Griffiths Observatory or the Hollywood Bowl.

San Diego - We spend time at the beach here, but have also been to the Wild Animal park, San Diego Zoo, and have really enjoyed just walking ,exploring Balboa park. If you are Lego crazy, Legoland is on the way to LA too.

Thank you for all of your advice. I am female for those of you asking! I was wondering two things:
1) is there a one dollar store in San Diego?
2) is there a store where they sell small and useful inventions like the erfinderladen shop in Berlin? I dont know how to explain myself accurately, but here is the link of the shop so you get an idea of what I am talking about thanks! We are really in to discovering these things!

I'm sure there are dollar stores in San Diego. That is something you can Google. You'll want to find one near you I would suppose. I would suggest Sharper Image or Brookstone, but I believe all of those have closed.

Legolan? The OP is 15 and does not mention any young children in their travel group.

I agree jamie I've been to Lego Land but with my young grandkids. I don't think teens would necessarily be all that trilled. It's really a smallish theme park designed with a lot of rides which appeal more for young kids and families.

San Diego Zoo

Balboa Park (next to the Zoo)

Coronado

La Jolla Cove

(you will see sea lions up close on the rocks, and tide pools) Water will be warm in July so take your bathing suit.

La Jolla Shores

or any of the many other companies along the main street - they are all pretty much the same - but some may have better deals.

What we refer to in San Diego as dollar stores are places that carry very cheap items and not high end gift stores like the link you shared.

I think one more popular 99C or 1$ store is called the Dollar Tree. Check it out online first.

Have a great time!
Where is the wedding being held?
Where are you staying?

Dollar stores sell everything for one dollar. Many items are cheap knock offs of higher quality brands. This does not compare at all with the Berlin store link you shared. Go shopping in San Diego's Old Town for souvenirs.
You are too old ro go on most of the rides at Legoland. They are small sized for young children.
Make sure you visit the San Diego Zoo and go to beach at Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach or Catalina Island. San Diego is a wonderful place to visit, have fun.

Thanks so much for the tips! Ive been doing some research in most of them and still figuring out what and where to go.
I am a girl and like music, fashion, and shopping. I come from a very small place in South America, Uruguay. So everything modern, cool or"as seen on TV" would be awesome to look at. For those of you asking, the wedding is being held in Carlsbad, and we are staying at the Omni Hotel.

Google Daiso, a Japanese chain of stores that is more like what you might be looking for as far as cheap but cool gift items and products. I believe there is one in Kearny Mesa, which is a few miles inland from the beach areas of La Jolla, etc. There is also a big shopping outlet in Carlsbad that might interest you (not for inexpensive items, but for shopping in general).

The Omni Hotel is in downtown San Diego and it is about an hour drive north to Oceanside where the wedding gown is. Allow extra time as the freeway (interstate 5 north) can have traffic.

If you are staying at the Omni downtown you are next door to a large shopping mall called Horton Plaza. It is fun and has a large variety of shops. That's where I'd go because it's most convenient.

Omni is a good choice. I've stayed there several times. Nice hotel. Good location.
