What to do for an 18 year old in NYC whos done it all!!

She's done the shopping, done the sightseeing, went to the park and ate as much as she can. If you could pick one museum what do you think an 18 year old (who only has a few hours) would like the best and why?
She's a typical teenage girl... i.e. not big on arts but might be interested if the exhibits are wonderful!

The ellis island museum is cool because you can look up your family name to see if they came through ellis, then you can print out old family pictures.

We have been here a few days already... it's her upteenth time to visit NYC.
We have literally done all the things a teenager wants to do... but the only museum we have been to is Ellis Isand (2x). She thought it was pretty cool the first time.
She has been to the Smithsonian (s) many times too so she thought about going to the Sex Museum but it looks boring... 2500 years of sexual obsession in China. She only wanted to go to it "BECAUSE SHE CAN". She turns 18 tomorrow!!!
I have to work, so I can't be with her...
Thanks for any ideas... we really need it! We were having coffee this afternoon and realized that we were shopped out. OMG, it's some sort of miracle!

If the weather is nice can't she just wander around-- pick an avenue and follow it-- Fifth Avenue from Central Park to Greenwich Village. This could take as much or as little time as she likes. Maybe just go to Chelsea Piers and rent ice skates or choose some other activity-- nice rink, indoors, on the river. The cloisters is an unusual part of the Met in fort tryon park. I would probably choose the ice skating.

Will you still be there on Tuesday? There are several "exhibits" at FIT that she might enjoy; "Fashioning the Modern Woman: The Art of the Couturière, 1919 - 1939" and "Temptation, Joy & Scandal: Fragrance & Fashion 1900-1950". The museum is open Tues - Fri Noon - 8pm, Saturday 10am - 5pm. Closed Sundays, and Mondays. Admission is free. There is more information at http://www.fitnyc.suny.edu/aspx/Cont...eGlobal:Museum

What about going to a Day Spa? I do not have any first hand information about any of the spas in the city, but if you think this is something she may like maybe someone can make a recommendation.

Would not recommend the Sex Museum. A friend of mine went and it is VERY graphic (the featured exhibit is erotica - but a lot of them are apparently hard core porn). She might want to do the Museum of the City of New York - its not art per se but very interesting about aspects of daily life. Another choice might be the Museum og the Moving Image (I think that the name - TV etc.)

And the winner is... Margie!
I never even thought of a spa!
It's her 18th B-Day and I am just going to give her a bunch of cash and point her towards the concierge!
Thanks for all the great ideas!

I can offer a free makeover at Macy's a friend of mine does makeovers and would be happy to do it for her. May runs one of the counters for one of the top names in the industry, and would show her all kinds of makeup tips, May is a liscensed cosmetician.

That way the cash can be spent on things to bring home.

Let me know asap and I can arrange the makeover by phone and then all she has to do is mention my name.

Maybe explore some of the college atrea, particularly up near Columbia and in Greenwich Village (NYU). the Washintgton Square park area serves almost as a campus for NYU. Always some form of street entertainment and lost so college age kids hanging around. There are many little shops, restaurants and clubs in the area. Maybe there's a show at one of the clubs you can both attend. You didn't mention theater, if she hasn't seen Rent, I'd take her to that.

Try to get tickets to see STOMP. It's different from a Broadway show and teens love it.
