What is the easiest way to get from SFO airport to Hotel?
Hi,
I know...dumb question....we will be staying in SFO in May and wanted to know the easiest way for two people with carry on luggage only to get to our hotel at Nob Hill Motor Inn at 1630 Pacific Avenue? We will not be renting a car. We'd like to take the bus or subway but know nothing about it. Can someone patiently explain the best and preferably least expensive way to do this?
TIA!

From the airport take BART (like metro) to Civic Center station.
Then you'll switch to different transport MUNI metro, $1.25 for adult, keep the ticket. Go back 1 station to Van Ness (BART doesn't stop there).
Get out of the metro and with the same ticket (don't pay, just show to the driver) take bus 47 or 49 along Van Ness going to the bay to Pacific street. Your hotel will be on the right.
If this is too difficult then take a shuttle from the airport to your hotel.

You can learn whatever you need to about San Francisco public transport at www.transitinfo.org, and you can enter your start point and destination into their trip planner feature and get deatiled directions about what trains and/or buses to take.

If you will be staying in SF for a few days and taking public transportation, I would buy a MUNI pass - MUNI is SF's public transportation system and includes buses, lightrail, and streetcars - I think cable cars too. You can buy passes at the Visitor's Center right at the Powell BART station. It's at the entrance to the station and is a good resource for all sorts of interesting things to do.
