What is it with Marriott?

Several times already, when I type a reply to a post, Marriott's pop-up "grows" and interferes with my typing!

Is it time to take a vacation or is it Fodor's trying to tell me something

This pop-up is really annoying!

No, I had the same trouble with Marriott as well. It is really a pain. I was just trying to read a long post and gave up.

What's with that anyway? It spread all over something I was looking at too and I couldn't get rid of the darned thing. How not to sell your hotel: Irritate your customers!

I use the Firefox browser with popup blocker on. I don't see that kind of garbage. I think the preferred term is poopup, but that does not stop the annoying images from suddenly intruding on the screen.

Try Firefox, I think you will like it.
I sometimes use IE these days, but not nearly as much as pre Firefox.

Thank you, Brookwood, but I'm at work, and not allowed to install any additional programs without written permission (which I won't dare to ask for!)

Also, a good firewall will filter those nuisances out as well. If you run your computer on a cable connection, I personally think you should have a firewall. Otherwise, your address is fixed and can be hacked.

No I don't sell firewalls or any other software product.

Fainia - ouch. I had reference to my home computer. I am sure you have a firewall at work, but it is probably tuned for the most usual situation, and that is to accept popups.

Is there any way your network manager can fine tune your browser?

Too bad, because I like Firefox. It is not the perfect answer, but I use IE less and less these days.

Just don't put your mouse on Marriott.

And yes, it is ALWAYS time for a vacation.

I don't WANT to put my mouse on Marriott Curt. My mouse resides on the right side of the page as I read and scroll, so it hits the da*n thing by mistake. It really is annoying. Talk about "in your face"!

Brookwood, I will be afraid to ask. My accounting manager may fine-tune my pink slip

Hey, guys, can we set-up some mouse-traps?

I don't get any of the problems many write about. I usually use Firefox but even in IE I don't get all those "Poop-ups" (love it, Brookwood). I don't have any special programs installed. I'm not using a firewall. I don't even use anti-virus, except on occasion.

I have a special version of a file called "hosts" which resides in my c:\windows folder (I use Win98).

That's all I'm going to write about what I use. I'm sure the IT Dept @ fodors is always busy with new ways to bombard us with revenue producing ads. Do your own research and share your findings privately or elsewhere.

I don't see it today. There is a car on top of my screen instead.

Hi Bonnie. Did you watch the Bears-Panthers game last week? The Bears D really saved the day for us. Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving. Larry
