We collected DS#1 from Penn State and headed home to maryland yesterday but missed our exit from the turnpike at Breezewood (city of motels) so got off at the next exit about 20 miles later and followed gps instructions back to 81 via many small little roads, one of which went through Greencastle where my grandparents are buried. We haven't been to Greencastle in 20 years, but we recognized the cemetary from the road and after much hunting found the family markers we were looking for.
We had lunch at the Antruim Family Restaurant. I can't recommend the rice and vegetable stir fried, but liked looking around Greencastle. Many nice houses, big front porches. Chambersburg, Hagerstown, Boonesboro were once wealthy farm towns and are steeped in history. And the stretch of road from the turnpike through the Tuscarora Mountains was beautiful.
So the missed exit turned out to be really fun.
what happens if you miss the breezewood exit
