I live in Canada where sandals are a summer thing, so I've never really owned any--just used running shoes.
What brand of men's sandals would I be real happy to buy in Hawaii. I'm most concerned with comfort.

Newport H2s mo' bettah, IMHO.

We used Chacos with the big lug soles to hike the NaPali a few times and had no problems. Until Keen comes out with a better hiking sole.....

Coming from a guys perspective as someone who never wears socks in summer...

I buy what looks good and is priced right when I am in the store. I get a new pair every 2-3 years.

My husband has had good success with Clark's brand men's sandals.

Tevas are also good in my experience.

My suggestion is to buy them online before your trip. That way you can pick out exactly the style and webbing design that you want. My husband loves IslandPro. They are reasonably priced (around $30), they are really well made (in Hawaii) and are really comfortable. They last along time, too. I usually love my Borns - so comfortable for long walks. BUT the Tevas were great in Hawaii as I could get them wet and just keep going. (Waterproof soles and quick-dry straps.) I even wore them for snorkeling at Poipu Beach. They can be found fairly inexpensively at some sports stores and at Sierra Outpost online. I'll have to check out the Chacos and the Keens...
