Whale Watching around San Diego in late December

Jump to last reply

We are probably having an extended family vacation in San Diego the week between xmas and NY. I would like to do a whale watch tour at some point. I was hoping to go for only half a day. I understand that the gray whales can start migrating in December. So I am assuming that the last week of December should be productive for whale watching.

If so, what company would you recommend? We are actually staying in La Jolla if that makes a difference. The people who would definitely be going are me and husband plus our kids (ages 10 and 7). Not sure if aged Mother in law and sister in law would want to go (or could??). So I am looking for a company that would be kid friendly and very educational--my kids are animal nerds :-) Thanks!
