WestCoast Anaheim Hotel or the Grand Californian?

Which is better for a lodging option near Disneyland? The WestCoast Anaheim Hotel or the Grand Californian?

We don't want cheesy disney paintings on the wall or stuffed animals.

Why bother going to Disneyland if you don't enjoy Disney related stuff?

That said, the Grand Californian is a very nice hotel and has a beautiful lobby. The restaurant is also very good.

To me, "Disney related stuff" is fine if it's outside of the hotel. But when we retreat to the hotel, I don't need musac blairing "A Whole New World" and I don't need pictures of Minnie and Goofie over the bed while I'm making love to my wife.

It's very goofy to spell it as "goofie"

That is funny. I empathize with Jerry. We have a friend who goes to Disneyland all the time. He's 45 years old and loves all that Disney crap. And he stays in the Disneyland Hotel.

I hate Disneyphiles. Especially older ones. Can't people LET IT GO ALREADY?

I have a theory that old Disney freaks are fat and eat at Outback Steakhouse too much.

Back to the original question (I'll leave the jokes(?) to others) -- the Grand Californian is definitely not "cheesy". It is a glorious hotel with wonderful restaurants. If it fits in your budget - it is the one I would choose. They do have Disney character lunches for the little ones - but otherwise you would never know you were in a Disney property. The lobby is absolutely amazing.
