I'm in the process of planning a summer vacation (late July) for our family of 5 (kids 19,15 and 12)in West Virginia. We have rented a cabin in Hico, WV (15 minutes from Summersville Lake) and are looking forward to a week of family fun. We're live 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia and have never been to WV. I would appreciate any information and suggestions on the following:
- Whitewater rafting outfitters
- Horseback riding outfitters
- Recommended parks, hiking and activities
- Summersville lake
- Restaurants
Any information will be greatly appreciated!!

I recommend this park:

You'll have a great time. It's a beautiful area.
Fayetteville is a nice little town you may want to check out for dining. Sorry I can't remember restaurant names.
If you're up for a good hike that will get your heart pumping, check this one out: www.newriverwv.com/Recreation_Hiking_Trails_Kaymoor_Miners_Trail.php
It's an interesting hike down a hill to the river, and then back up, past an abandoned coal mine.
If you're interested in civil war history, may want to check out Carnifex Ferry State Park battlefield. It's a relatively small park, but are also some hiking trails to the Gauley River from there.
