Weekend trip with baby -- location help needed!
My husband and I are trying to plan a last minute, 3 night trip with our three month old baby. We're looking for: a 2 hour or less direct flight from the DC/Baltimore area, warmer weather, a "suite" style hotel with a separate living/bedroom so we can stay up after the baby is asleep, and preferably some attractions we can stroll to from the hotel (or at least an easily accessible area good for strolling with a baby). Our funds are not unlimited, but we would like a reasonably nice place to stay as this will likely be our last trip for a while (let's say under $225 a night for the hotel). A destination served by Southwest would be a plus since we can get good deals from BWI. Any recommendations for specific cities or hotels? Obviously Florida comes to mind (a great pool would be a big plus), but New Oreleans also seemed like a possibility. TIA!

A nice big hotel in New Orleans might be nice - lots to see durring the daytime and walking is the only way to go. If this is your one trip to New Orleans though I'd wait until Baby is old enough to leave with the grandparents because there are lots of fun night activities too.
A nice resort hotel in Palm Beach or Miami Beach area might be a good choice.

When are you going? Spring break here in NO isn't til mid April. New Orleans is a great place for a short trip. Definitely within your flight time. You will need to find someone to watch the baby if you go out in the evening & don't want to take the cutie. At 3 months they are usually still pretty ok to take along since they still sleep some & can't get up & go.
Destin in Fl is good too They have the beach & some shops as well. The beach is really decent there & you can relax with the baby. Probably sounds good about now.
Have a great time wherever you go.

Florida can be very iffy weather-wise in March. Average temps are only in the low 70s and you run a real risk of even cooler temps and rain. Not sure it is worth the chance. Also, having looked on Southwest, most flights from BWI to Florida would not meet your criteria, as flight times to Miami, Orlando, Naples, etc are 2.5 hours. New Orleans is about the same. So with airport travel time and security, I would say you are looking at a minimum of 10 hours travel time for the long weekend, with a 3 month old.
I would actually hop in the car and go to either NYC or Philadelphia (a train is an option for both as well). What you save in airfare you can spend on nicer hotels, not to mention not having the hassle of traveling by air.
I love the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park, and they have weekend rates. I also love the Four Seasons in Philadelphia, they have a great indoor pool and spa. It is in a very nice area of town on Logan Square. I ran a check for the weekend you are looking at and you can get an execute suite for $480 a night including breakfast. These are very large and have sliding doors between the bedroom and living room, so would be good with a baby. You can get a regular room for about $390 a night. There is a lot to do and see in Philadelphia, including lots of good museums in case the weather is iffy. I personally would spend the whole time at the pool and the spa and getting room service. . .
