Weekend road trips from Wilmington, DE?
I am considering a weekend trip as a surprise gift for my girlfriend this Christmas. We live in Wilmington, DE and would be willing to drive up to four hours if needed. This weekend would be in mid-February, not actually at Christmas.
We have done weekends in Philly, New York City, Rehobeth Beach, Atlantic City, and Washington DC so far. We do not have anything against those places... but we like to experience new places.
If you take those options off the list, what do you recommond for a nice weekend? She is only so-so about skiing, so having something else to do besides skiing would be wonderful. So far I have been browsing through places in the Poconos and the panhandle of West Virginia. Poconos look nice but I wonder how much we would have to do without skiing in February.
I am open to any fun, enjoyable suggestions. It can be a fun town/city or a cool country locale. I do not have a lot of money to spend on this... I could spend up to $200 per night but would like to stay comfortably under that if it were possible at all.
Thanks, in advance, for the help!

harpers ferry and shepardstown, WVA are great. shepardstown has lots of great little shops and restaurants. hiking nearby - haven't been in the dead of winter though but hiking could easily become snowshoeing!

Thanks. I am starting to look more at the Shepardstown, Harpers Ferry, and Berkeley Springs areas. Working to see how enjoyable it is in winter or if it is a "summer only" idea.
