Weekend in Savannah for a Wedding

Hello All,
My Husband and I will be visiting Savannah the last weekend in May for a wedding. We are arriving at noon on Thursday and we will have the rest of Thursday, all of Friday and Saturday morning to sightsee and visit. We are staying at the Residence Inn and we will have a rental car.
I don't know anything at all about Savannah.
I am looking for recommendations on things to do and places for dinner on Thursday and Friday nights. We like most any kind of food and we would be looking for something moderately priced.
Thanks in Advnace for your suggestions.

Heads up - 5/31 is SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) commencement - glad you already have hotel reservations, but restaurants will be busier than usual - make reservations.

Try and get a reservation at Olde Pink House. If you can't--go downstairs to the tavern and order from the bar. Drive up to Beaufort--lovely little town on the Intercoastal--great restaurants. While you're there--go up to the Penn Center (great info on the Gullah Culture).

Always have enjoyed the buffet at The Lady and Sons (Paula Deen's) if you can get a reservation; kind of divey but fabulous pizza at Vinnie Van Go Go's.

To Hopefully--In he event you have not read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, by all means, do read it before you go. So much of the historic area is included in the book, makes things much easier to understand.

We were there about a month ago, took a guided tour of the historic area in the morning, and one night a 'haunted Savannah' bus tour (which was not worth the money as far as I was concerned.) I think a 'haunted' walking tour (although it wouldn't cover as much area) would be far more appropriate.

I think the Paula Deen buffet can only be reserved in person.

Savannah is a lovely old Southern city and has so much to offer. Enjoy!

Uncle Bubba's (on way to Tybee Island) - do not know if they take reservations and we have been there on random weeknights and been told there was a 2 hour wait, though.

Crab Shack - on Tybee Island. Really is a shack that serves crab, boiled shellfish, and not much else. But it is really good - they also have a gator pond which seems much more entertaining after a few beers and some shellfish.
