weekend getaway from NYC in november?

so my office mates gave me and my new husband a wedding gift of travel. we work in nyc and they said they collected enough money to give us a weekend away somewhere soon.
now, while i'd love to put that money (i'm guessing they've collected about 500) towards my honeymoon - considering we're broke! - my question to you is -
where would you go - in november. berkshires? long island (north fork)?
or should we wait until there is snow on the ground so we can go snowshoeing or something.
not sure if november is a good month for travel to these places.
thanks!

November is pretty bleak from NYC north or east, IMHO -- too late for fall foliage, too early for snow. But heading south in Nov. might have potential.

my thoughts exactly.

do you think it's rude to ask if i could use the money to put towards our honeymoon instead? how do i finesse that?

WHy not use the money for a weekend away further away like Valentines Day weekend or a long weekend away in winter.

If you need to use it now, why not head to Newport, RI and stay in a B&B. Great restaurants and atmosphere year 'round (in my opinion, at least!).

I also LOVE Newport, RI. I went in summer, but I'm sure it is nice in the fall too. THe mansions are really awesome and the food was very good too! Highly recommend as well. Can't go wrong going there.
