Weekend Anniversary Trip to Oregon Coast and Wine Region

My husband and I are flying into Portland in early October for a business conference but would like to see some of the surrounding areas the weekend before. We are planning on heading to the Coast mid Friday afternoon and staying in the Cannon Beach area Friday night. We will be staying at The Allison in Dundee on Sat night. From Cannon Beach how far down the Coast should we drive before heading back up to Dundee? We will spend some of Sat and all of Sunday in the wine region.

Also, any hotel recommendations for Cannon Bay?
